Yesterday, the rural community “Unidos Venceremos” of Huascaran National Park, in Ancash, was recognized on behalf of the winning projects of the second edition of the “Entrepreneurs for Nature” contest.
The ceremony took place at the Chinancocha lagoon, located within the Huascaran National Park, where the Community “Unidos Venceremos” carries out part of its activities. “This community is a key player in the management of Huascaran National Park, providing domestic and foreign visitors with a significant and unforgettable tourist experience on the María Josefa and Llanganuco trail, thus contributing to the positioning and conservation of the Park, the economic development of the community and its members,” pointed out William Martinez, Head of Huascaran National Park.
José Ramírez, head of Sernanp, ratified the commitment to continue supporting Conservation Allies such as the Community “Unidos Venceremos”, to contribute to the development of the local economy and to strengthen their important role in the conservation of protected natural areas such as Huascaran National Park.
The “Entrepreneurs for Nature” initiative seeks to promote and strengthen private enterprises for the sustainable use of natural resources related to PNAs. Christian Bueno, Administration and Finance Manager of Profonanpe, emphasized: “When we started Entrepreneurs for Nature together with Sernanp, we did it with the enthusiasm of making visible those entrepreneurs who are committed to the care of protected natural areas and the environment. For Profonanpe, it is important that they can see us as an ally to promote their enterprises through the financial support we provide in this contest. ”
