Lima, October 4, 2022. With the aim of strengthening the capacities of sustainable entrepreneurship in Protected Natural Areas (PNAs), Profonanpe, Peru's private environmental fund, and the Sustainability Center of the University of Lima They are launching the first training program that will benefit the winners of the second edition of the "Entrepreneurs by Nature" contest.
This program, which has a methodological design proposed by the Sustainability Center of the University of Lima, The program aims to strengthen skills in marketing, digital communication, administration, and accounting, and is taught by faculty and students from the institution. “Having student support in the sessions will be very enriching for both the entrepreneurs and themselves, since in each session they will be able to learn about the work that the ventures carry out and help them strengthen their skills, while the entrepreneurs will have student advisors to help them develop the activities. It’s a winning formula that benefits everyone,” explains Vanessa García, Head of Social Responsibility at the Center for Sustainability of the University of Lima.
Twenty-seven sustainable projects operating in various protected natural areas across the country will benefit. In 2021, these initiatives received recognition from Sernanp and Profonanpe through the "Entrepreneurs by Nature" competition for working with a private business model that promotes the sustainable development of their communities and ecosystems.
“Profonanpe is an ally of initiatives that manage environmentally sustainable solutions. Through our partnership with the University of Lima, we continue to promote the strengthening of the capacities of Nature Entrepreneurs, and this will also have a positive impact on the conservation of our Protected Natural Areas,” highlighted Anton Willems, Executive Director of Profonanpe.
The first module of the program begins on October 13th, through the University of Lima's virtual platform. Upon completion of the training, the participating businesses will receive a letter certifying their participation, a valuable resource that strengthens the management of each project.
The alliance between both institutions takes place within the framework of the Innova project, an initiative of Profonanpe that designs innovative financing mechanisms that contribute to the effective management of protected natural areas, together with companies and citizens.
