Profonanpe will participate in Biodiversity Fair with 3 initiatives that promote sustainable use of natural resources

These are the projects Marine-Coastal Adaptation, GIAHS and Nagoya, which will present installations and projects from different regions of the country. The fair will be held this May 21 and 22 at Parque de la Exposición.

With the aim of encouraging and strengthening biodiversity valuation, Profonanpe, the Peruvian private environmental fund, will participate in the third edition of the “Biodiversity Festival: Building a shared future for all forms of life”, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM), the Municipality of Lima and various institutions that promote the sustainable use of agrobiodiversity. The event will take place on May 21 and 22 at Parque de la Exposición.

Three initiatives promoted by Profonanpe, which promote the work of communities that make sustainable use of natural resources, will participate in this fair. One of them is the GIAHS Project, which will be presented with the renowned traveling fair Kusikuy, the first recreational museum of ancestral foods from agricultural producers in the regions of Cusco, Puno, Huancavelica and Apurímac.

The Nagoya Project will also be presented with the “BiodiversidadConCiencia” route, an interactive, sensory and playful space that includes 5 stations, which will allow visitors to learn about the importance and benefits of biodiversity through experience. At the last station, participants will have access to an exchange of experiences with representatives of the Nuqanchik Maronijei Noshaninka Network, who maintain their native languages of Quechua, Ashaninka and Matshiguenga.

The Marine-Coastal Adaptation Project (AMC) will present 4 businesses of women artisans from Huaura and Talara, who have strengthened their active role through capacity building for their enterprises in the face of the impacts of climate change on their economic activities. The participation of women entrepreneurs dedicated to the production of biofertilizers, reed and pearl shell handicrafts stands out.

Interested people can attend the free event on Saturday May 21 and Sunday May 22, starting at 11:00 a.m., at Parque de la Exposición, Av. 9 de diciembre 125 (Ex Paseo Colón) – Cercado de Lima. You can learn more at the Facebook event.
