The Apasc Sancore Palcazú Ltda Agricultural and Industrial Cooperative, Specializing in the production of cocoa derivatives, is making a significant difference to the local economy and environmental conservation in the district of Palcazú. Located in the heart of the Oxapampa region, this agricultural cooperative not only cultivates high-quality cacao, but also It also promotes sustainable practices that benefit both its members and the natural environment.
Many women, several of them single mothers, are also part of the cooperative. They dedicate themselves to the production of derivatives such as chocolates, bonbons, cocoa paste and jellies, products that they then market to cover household expenses and their children's education.
With a production area covering 500 hectares, their offering includes everything from cocoa beans to drinking chocolate and jams, with a focus on quality and sustainability: “Our proposal is to take care of our environment because that's what the organic program is about; it operates under non-pollution standards.”, says Miriam Sánchez Ramírez, manager of the cooperative.
Since its founding in 2012, Sancore Palcazú has faced challenges, but its commitment to improvement and innovation has led them to be winners of the Entrepreneurs by Nature program in its fourth edition. The cooperative stood out for its focus on reforestation and income diversification through projects such as guinea pig farming and fruit tree planting.
