Environmental financing opportunities in August

At Profonanpe, the Peruvian Environmental Fund, we care about the work of your organization in favor of nature conservation. That is why we share with you some funding and training opportunities that you can apply for in August and September and that can add to your project to contribute to climate change adaptation, sustainable development, among others.

 

  • RFPs: Wildlife Fellowship Training Grant. The Morris Animal Foundation’s mission is to bridge the gap between science and resources to promote animal health. To achieve this goal, it funds hypothesis-driven, humanized research projects with high scientific merit and potential for significant impact. Proposals must promote the overall health and welfare of wildlife. Deadline August 14. Apply here.

 

  • CFAs: Y. Eva Tan Conservation Reporting Fellowship Program. Mongabay invites submissions for the Y Conservation Journalism Fellowship. Eva Tan to build the capacity of young and aspiring environmental journalists to cover biodiversity hotspots. The program will provide opportunities for journalists to report on critical environmental issues, gaining valuable training, experience and credibility that will help them advance their careers in journalism and communications.   • Call for Nominations: Whitley Awards for Grassroots Conservation Leaders in Global South. The Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN) is seeking nominations for the Whitley Awards to support mid-career conservationists leading wildlife conservation projects in the Global South. Deadline: October 31. Apply here. 

 

  • Nominations open for WSA Global Award 2024. WSA selects and promotes local digital innovation improving society. It is a non-monetary award system focused on sustainable knowledge transfer through a global network. Winners do not benefit from a one-time financial reward, but from a lifelong partnership and integration. WSA invites all UN member states to nominate their best local digital solutions for the global award. There are 8 categories: Government & Citizen Engagement, Health & Wellness, Learning & Education, Environment & Green Energy, Culture & Heritage, Smart Settlement & Urbanization, Business & Commerce and Inclusion & Empowerment.   • Apply for Bow Seat True Blue Fellowship. The True Blue Fellowship provides mentorship, capacity building and funding to young people developing projects to address ocean, waterway and/or climate change challenges in their local communities through a creative arts lens. It aims to build a community of young leaders among True Blue Fellows, provide mentorship and capacity building opportunities, and have a tangible youth impact on communities around the world. The fellowship hopes to demonstrate the power of the creative arts to empower young people to take action and create change. Deadline: September 1. Apply here.

 

  • National Geographic Society Grants Program 2024. The National Geographic Society is seeking innovative proposals for photography, short films, writing, data visualization, and storytelling to help people consider some of the most important questions of the day. Projects should in some way address the following questions: What does it mean to be human? What are the limits of the Earth, or more precisely, what are the limits of what they can understand? What is the relationship between the human and natural worlds? The focus areas are Ocean, Earth, Wildlife, Human History and Cultures, Planetary Health, and Space. Also, the project types are in the areas of Conservation, Education, Research, Narrative, and Technology. Finally, the National Geographic Society encourages applicants from historically and currently underrepresented and underserved populations to apply to its grant program. Deadline: September 11.   • King Bhumibol World Soil Day Award. The objective is to encourage organizers of World Soil Day events at all levels to facilitate challenging and outstanding celebrations around the world. Therefore, FAO invites organizers from all countries that successfully carried out the celebration of the event in its 2023 edition to compete. Deadline: 01 September. Apply here.

 

  • IFF Global Green Finance Award 2024. The International Finance Forum Award aims to foster international cooperation and the exchange of successful practices, as well as to support sustainable development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. There are two award categories: Annual Award and Innovation Award. Deadline: September 15. Apply here. 

 

  • Conservation Tech Award: Accelerating Innovation and Development. The Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2) invites applications for the EarthRanger Program to help protected areas and conservation organizations safeguard wildlife and their habitats through the advancement of technology. AI2 seeks to grant organizations that implemented or developed technology to have a positive impact on conservation management, including, but not limited to, endangered animal safety, animal behavior research, anti-poaching law enforcement, ecological management, and human-wildlife coexistence. Applicant may apply for one of two grants: Technology Adopter Grant and Technology Practitioner Grant.  Deadline: August 23. Apply here.  

 

  • Call for Proposals to support the Advancement of Wildlife Research. Wildlife Acoustics is proud to offer a grant program to support the advancement of wildlife research, habitat monitoring and environmental conservation. The quarterly grant program provides scientists with bioacoustic research tools to advance their studies of bats, birds, amphibians, and other vocal wildlife. Deadline: August 15. Apply here.

 

  • Nominations open for Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement. The award is given to any individual or organization anywhere in the world that has worked to provide global solutions to environmental impact. The Tyler Prize is intended to recognize outstanding contributions to ecological protection and improvement, development of sustainable energy sources, and improvements in planetary health. Deadline: August 9. Apply here.
