The southern tourist circuit of the San Fernando National Reserve obtained the Safe Travels certification

After an evaluation process of the technical criteria, the circuit was able to obtain this certification on August 14th.

With the aim of verifying the activities and routes for the development of tourist activities compatible with the protected natural area, last month staff from National Service of Protected Natural Areas (Sernanp), with the support of Protected Natural Areas Program PAN III – project implemented by Profonanpe and financed by the German Cooperation KfW – held meetings and field trips in coordination with the Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Ica, the Provincial Municipality of Nasca and specialists in adventure sports.

 

 

Located in the districts of Santiago (Ica province), Changuillo, Nasca and San Juan de Marcona (Nasca province) in the department of Ica, The San Fernando National Reserve conserves an important part of the biological corridor This area, which connects the high Andean ecosystem with the coastal marine environment of this region, harbors natural values that make it vulnerable to harmful tourism practices. Therefore, this visit was important to establish activities that, in addition to contributing to the diversification of the tourism offerings of the southern and northern tourist circuits, guarantee, through best practices, that the ecosystems surrounding both circuits are not negatively impacted.

 

 

 

In this way, the presence of the specialists of the Dircetur Ica allowed the evaluation of the technical criteria for incorporate the southern tourist circuit of the San Fernando National Reserve to the group of establishments that They have the certification sublicense Safe Travels, the same one that – through the coordinated work between tour operators, institutions and competent sectors in tourism matters – allowed it to obtain this certification on August 14.

 

 

All these actions are part of Sernanp's initiative to contribute to the revitalization and reactivation of the local economy of the province of Nasca and Marcona in an orderly and safe manner, while continuing to offer conserved natural spaces with sustainable activities compatible with the habitat of the representative species of this protected natural area.
