Member of the Association of Aguaje Producers and Management – Aspromag
In the province of Datem del Marañón, in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, the efforts and organization of local producers have achieved an important breakthrough: three indigenous associations have been selected to receive financing from the Procompite Regional fund, a state program that promotes the growth of productive enterprises. Thanks to this support, the producers will be able to improve their processes, increase their production capacity and strengthen their sustainable businesses.
The beneficiary associations – the Association of Producers and Handling of Aguaje (Aspromag), the Association of Sustainable Producers Awajún del Marañón (Aprosam) and the Association of Producers Los Sugkas – bring together 53 members of the Kichwa and Awajún ethnic groups from 11 native communities in the districts of Pastaza and Manseriche. Each of these organizations works with products that are emblematic of Amazonian biodiversity, such as aguaje pulp and oil, huasaí and balanced feed for Amazonian fish.

A boost that opens up opportunities
Access to this financing has been possible thanks to the efforts of the producers and the technical support of Profonanpe. Through the Datem Wetlands Project, the implementation of production plants with key equipment was promoted for Aspromag and Aprosam, focused on the production of aguaje oil and derivatives, and for SUGKAS, dedicated to the production of balanced feed for Amazonian fish.
The selection process at Procompite included several stages, from the presentation of dossiers to on-site visits and the presentation of proposals. To ensure the success of the application, we also facilitated the hiring of a project formulation specialist, who developed the business plans for each association. These documents detailed the viability, profitability and improvement strategies of each initiative, ensuring their approval in the competition.

With this financing, the associations will be able to automate their processes, increase their production capacity and improve the quality of their products. This will not only strengthen their competitiveness in the market, but will also contribute to the sustainable economic development of their communities.
