Following three weeks of technical visits, the results of the Amazonian Bio investment contest have been published. This competition, promoted by the Financial Facility for Amazonian Eco and Bio businesses (EBBF Amazon) project, will benefit 16 bio businesses in its first edition with business consulting and/or financing.

The EBBF Amazon project is executed by Profonanpe in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment and is financed by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Its objective is to mitigate the effects of climate change through the conservation and restoration of Amazonian forests.

The winning bio businesses hail from the regions of Loreto, San Martín, Cusco, and Madre de Dios. They operate within key production chains for the Amazon’s sustainability, promoting activities related to non-timber forest exploitation, agroforestry, and ecotourism.

The technical visits provided an in-depth look at the initiatives, which are led by companies and producer organizations that demonstrate a high level of commitment to forest conservation and the well-being of local communities.
