Through the support of the initiative, we seek to safeguard threatened or declining endemic and migratory bird species and protect their important habitats in the Peruvian Tropical Andes region, through the creation of subnational protected areas (regional, municipal, communal, indigenous, public or private) in the country.
In order to strengthen the conservation of threatened, endemic and migratory bird species in decline in priority areas in Peru, the second Conserva Aves call for proposals was launched in our country. This initiative is led by the American Bird Conservancy (ABC), National Audubon Society, BirdLife International, Birds Canada and the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Environmental Funds (RedLAC), together with national partners Profonanpe and ECOAN, with the support of the Government of Canada.
This inclusive conservation and climate change strategy seeks to finance initiatives that promote the creation or expansion of local conservation areas in priority areas for birds. It will also contribute to the design and implementation of management plans, capacity building and financial sustainability.
The best projects will be selected, and each will receive up to S/350,000. The deadline for submitting proposals is March 24, 2025, through Profonanpe’s website.
