Improve the resilience capacities of indigenous communities living in wetland ecosystems rich in carbon stocks in Datem del Marañon Province in the Loreto Region, Peru; as well as improve their livelihoods and reduce greenhouse gas emissions caused by deforestation.

The project is implemented in the Abanico del Pastaza, classified as a Ramsar site, i.e. of international importance due to its biological richness, as it contains fragile ecosystems.

Beneficiary:

120 native communities of the Awajún, Achuar, Chapra, Kandozi, Kichwa, Wampis, and Shawi indigenous peoples.

Progress in the process of Autonomous Territorial Zoning (ZTA for its acronym in Spanish), in coordination with lCORPI and the Datem del Marañón Provincial Municipality.

Formalization and capacity building of indigenous associations for the participatory development of management instruments (Management Declarations - DEMA and Fisheries Management Program - PROMAPE) and sustainable management of natural resources.

Capacity building in bio-business management and associativity, and implementation of infrastructure for the commercialization of fresh fish and the production of aguaje oil.

Leveraging funds with the National Innovation Program for Fisheries and Aquaculture (PNIPA for its acronym in Spanish) for the implementation of an aquaculture project.

Organic certification for the sale of aguaje oil with Awajún population.
