Profonanpe consolidates itself as the environmental fund of Peru

Private organization presents its new institutional image in favor of nature conservation.

After 28 years of institutional history, Profonanpe has revamped its institutional image to respond to the environmental sustainability challenges we currently face, following its recent merger with the National Environmental Fund, thus becoming Peru's only Environmental Fund. This new role positions it as a strategic partner for implementing the environmental agenda. In a complex context, and amidst a climate crisis that demands comprehensive work with various partners, they announced their new purpose: To promote the sustainability of life by connecting humanity with the environment.

The renewed image also responds to the need to establish new alliances, and above all, to the commitment we have as a country to the implementation of the environmental agenda to 2030. With a view to achieving this objective, Profonanpe is currently strengthening ties with the private sector and international cooperation, key players in the co-creation of new initiatives in favor of the conservation of protected natural areas, nature and the environment in general.

Currently, it is essential to understand that economic development will only be sustainable over time if we incorporate the effects of climate change into our production processes and actively engage in initiatives that promote environmental sustainability. In this context, Profonanpe offers its expertise and tools for designing strategies that support and form the core of business initiatives. Through coordinated and conscious efforts, we can generate individual and collective benefits, both economic and environmental, which will positively impact sustainable development.

Currently, Profonanpe has raised more than 250 million dollars, 44 million dollars in investment portfolios, 40 projects executed throughout Peru, 18 projects in execution related to biodiversity conservation, mitigation and climate change, management of environmental liabilities, forest recovery, capacity building and knowledge exchange with an intercultural approach, and is the only institution in Peru accredited to the Green Climate Fund and the Adaptation Fund, global organizations that focus on adaptation to climate change.

In this way, Profonanpe remains committed to implementing a comprehensive environmental agenda that considers and highlights the importance of interdisciplinary work based on the perspectives and contributions of all those committed to nature and conservation. Profonanpe is and will continue to be an ally in addressing the challenges of a sustainable environmental agenda and conserving the nature we so deeply cherish and have come to value during this pandemic.
