After 28 years of institutional track record, Profonanpe renewed its institutional image with the objective of responding to the challenges of environmental sustainability that we currently face and the recent merger with the National Environmental Fund, thus becoming the only Environmental Fund in Peru, a challenge that makes it the strategic ally for the implementation of the environmental agenda. In a complicated context, and in the midst of a climate crisis that demands a comprehensive work with different allies, new purpose was presented: To promote the sustainability of life by connecting humanity with the environment.
The renewed image also responds to the need to establish new alliances, and above all, to the commitment we have as a country with the implementation of the 2030 environmental agenda. With a view to achieving this objective, Profonanpe is currently strengthening ties with the private sector and international cooperation, fundamental actors for the co-creation of new initiatives in favor of the conservation of natural protected l areas, nature and the environment in general.
Currently, it is essential to understand that economic development will only be sustainable over time if we assume the effects of climate change in our production and become actively involved in proposals that promote environmental sustainability. In this scenario, Profonanpe offers its knowledge and tools for the design of strategies that accompany and become the backbone of business initiatives. Thus, with an articulated and conscious work, individual and collective benefits can be generated, both economically and environmentally, which will have a positive impact on sustainable development.
Currently, Profonanpe has raised more than 250 million dollars, 44 million dollars in investment portfolios, 40 projects executed throughout Peru, 18 projects in execution related to biodiversity conservation, mitigation and climate change, management of environmental liabilities, forest recovery, capacity building and knowledge exchange with an intercultural approach, and it is the only institution in Peru accredited by the Green Climate Fund and the Adaptation Fund, global organizations that focus on adaptation to climate change.
In this way, Profonanpe remains firm in implementing a comprehensive environmental agenda, which considers and makes visible the importance of deploying interdisciplinary work based on the perceptions and contributions of all people who are committed to nature and conservation. Profonanpe is and will continue to be an ally in confronting the challenges of a sustainable environmental agenda, and to conserving the nature that we long for and have valued so much in the midst of this pandemic.
