Food security, world heritage preservation, creation of protected areas, environmental research, scholarship and grant support are some of the topics for which funding is available in February 2026.

Discover opportunities that can boost conservation and sustainable development!

  • Global Forest Watch Small Grants Fund. The overall objective of the Global Forest Watch (GFW) Small Grants Fund is to empower civil society organizations working in forest areas by providing them with the financial resources, technical support, and training necessary to integrate advanced forest monitoring technology into their work, thereby transforming data and alerts into concrete actions for conservation, territorial rights advocacy, and accountability, while providing feedback and improving GFW’s own tools. Closing date: February 6. Apply here.
  • Honnold Foundation. The Honnold Foundation works with marginalized communities to expand equitable access to solar energy, based on the belief that this access improves quality of life and reduces environmental impact. The Foundation awards unrestricted grants to organizations around the world whose work promotes social and economic equity. Although its funds are not conditional, the organization tends to select entities that allocate resources to a specific project or initiative. Closing date: February 12. Apply here.
  • Through Southern Lenses Photography Award. Through Southern Lenses: Science in Focus is an international photography award that highlights the beauty, challenges, and impact of science in the Global South. This international award celebrates the scientific achievements, challenges, and human stories of the Global South through the power of photography. Closing date: February 15. Apply here.
  • 2026 FAO Partnership Award. The overall objective of the FAO Partnership Award is to recognize and highlight exceptional and transformative partnerships established between FAO and various actors (States, international organizations, academia, civil society, or the private sector) that have contributed in a significant, innovative, and inclusive manner to advancing the Organization’s mandate by promoting sustainable agri-food systems, raising awareness about food and nutrition security, and promoting scalable solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Closing date: February 15. Apply here.
  • GEO Mountains Small Data Grants 2026-2027 Call for Proposals. Fund projects that improve the availability, quality, and usefulness of data and information on environmental and socioeconomic systems in mountainous regions, prioritizing five specific areas: the Andes, Central Asia, East Africa, the South Caucasus, and the Hindu Kush Himalayas. Closing date: February 20. Apply here.
  • Environmental Impact Fund for Climate Intervention. Fund field tests of climate interventions that include significant investments in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), predictive impact modeling, and/or engagement with potentially affected stakeholders. Closing date: March 15. Apply here.
  • Urban Studies Foundation (USF). The goal of The Urban Studies Foundation (USF) is to fund innovative, rapid-response research proposals that address the most pressing urban challenges (climate, housing, health, technology, etc.), contributing to more just, inclusive, and sustainable urban futures. Research must generate new evidence and be clearly situated in the field of urban studies. Closing date: March 23. Apply here.
  • Midori Prize. The MIDORI Prize recognizes that protecting biodiversity requires the participation and cooperation of all stakeholders: citizens, governments, international organizations, NGOs, researchers, and the private sector. Therefore, its main objective is to highlight and collaborate with those who contribute significantly to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, whether through practical action, scientific research, political advocacy, or social awareness. Closing date: March 31. Apply here.
  • BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards. The nineteenth edition of the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards is now open. These awards recognize and reward top-level contributions to research and artistic creation that stand out for their originality, relevance, and unique impact. The name of the program reflects its dual purpose: to reward both work that substantially expands the boundaries of knowledge in a given area and work that arises from the convergence of disciplines, giving rise to new fields of study. In short, the awards recognize fundamental advances, whether disciplinary or interdisciplinary, in the broad spectrum of 21st-century knowledge. Closing date: June 30. Apply here.
  • The Conservation, Food and Health Foundation. The Conservation, Food and Health Foundation is an organization whose main mission is to protect the environment, ensure food security, and improve public health in developing regions of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East. To achieve this goal, the Foundation specializes in financing innovative projects that offer practical solutions to local challenges, strengthen human capital, and develop institutional capacities in three strategic areas: ecosystem conservation, sustainable agriculture, and public health systems. As part of its intervention model, the Foundation prioritizes support for pioneering initiatives through seed funding for applied research, demonstration projects, and training programs, with a special emphasis on proposals located in areas with limited access to financial resources. Its ultimate goal is to serve as a catalyst for these projects to achieve sustainability and scale their impact with support from other investors. Closing date: No deadline. Apply here.
  • Reece Foundation Grant. Support local initiatives that help communities in Australia and overseas access clean water, sanitation, or food security through irrigation. Closing date: No deadline. Apply here.
  • Grants from Rapid Response Facility (RRF). The Rapid Response Facility (RRF) provides emergency support to natural World Heritage sites in times of crisis. The RRF is a partnership between the UNESCO World Heritage Center and Fauna & Flora International (FFI). RRF grants are available to UNESCO natural World Heritage sites. The RRF only funds actions at a site facing an “emergency” threat to its biodiversity. They do not fund ongoing problems, even if they require urgent action. Closing date: No deadline. Apply here.
  • Rufford Grants Program. This grant program offers grants for nature conservation projects in the developing world. There are five consecutive funding schemes: Rufford Small Grant, 2nd Rufford Small Grant, Booster Grant, 2nd Booster Grant, and Completion Grant. The primary requirement is that the work must be pragmatic in nature and have a substantial and lasting impact on the issue at hand (conservation). There will often be a significant human element in a successful proposal, with community education and participation being very important. The Foundation has a broad scope of interest. In addition to the conservation of animals in their habitat, it also wishes to support conservation work focused on threatened habitats and other organisms such as plants, fungi, or insects. Closing date: No deadline. Apply here.
  • Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation. The DRK Foundation funds early-stage social impact organizations that solve the world’s biggest social and environmental problems through innovative and scalable approaches. Closing date: No deadline. Apply here.
