New environmental financing opportunities in January

Improving community well-being, capacity building for young people, the development of startups to promote energy issues, and the recognition of people who promote climate change mitigation are some of the topics that have funding available in January 2025.

  • Call for Nominations: Achievement Awards 2025. The FAO Achievement Award recognizes professional achievements in various sectors, such as fisheries, forestry, climate, land and water, animal and plant health, to name but a few. It is awarded to any entity or individual, including FAO teams or employees, for outstanding technical or humanitarian cooperation work at the national level. Closing date: January 31.   • Nominations open for Champion Award 2025. The Champion Award is FAO’s highest recognition for outstanding leaders in government, civil society and the private sector. It rewards those who drive actions with a transformative impact on improving food security and advancing towards the goals of the 2030 Agenda, ensuring that people can regularly access food of sufficient quality to maintain an active and healthy life.   • RFAs: Wilkes Climate Launch Prize 2025. The University of Utah’s Wilkes Climate Launch Prize highlights the top global ideas for combating climate change. This program, organized by Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN), is offering organizational grants to media outlets, NGOs, academic institutions and other interested groups to support media and journalism activities related to environmental crimes in the Amazon region in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
