With the aim of strengthening the technical, productive, and commercial capacities of Amazonian aguaje producers, the internship “Aguaje Route and Value Chain in Datem del Marañón” was held at the processing plant of the Association of Aguaje Producers and Management (ASPROMAG), located in the native community of Puerto Industrial.

The activity brought together 35 participants, including producers and technical teams from associations in the province of Alto Amazonas, from the Paranapura, Bajo Huallaga, and Pavayacu basins, who work in coordination with the Confederation of Amazonian Nationalities of Peru (CONAP).

During the internship, theoretical and practical sessions were held aimed at strengthening a sustainable aguaje value chain, promoting the responsible use of the resource, the generation of added value, and commercial coordination. On behalf of Profonanpe, engineer Jairo Vásquez Torres, a specialist in Sustainable Value Chains from the Amazonian Biobusiness Incubation Program (PIB), presented the progress and results of the institutional work in Datem del Marañón.

Likewise, technician Segundo Chanchari Mori gave a practical demonstration on sustainable harvesting without felling, using tools for climbing Amazonian palm trees. For his part, ASPROMAG manager Felipe Gutiérrez Usquiza, together with plant operator Tarsis Villanueva Campos, led a practical session on the processing and marketing of aguaje, in which participants made derivative products such as handmade popsicles and soaps.
