Hub de Innovación Minera of Peru signs agreement with Profonanpe, Peru’s Environmental Fund

A partnership for the environment.

Profonanpe, Peru’s environmental fund, and the Hub have signed an alliance that seeks to promote sustainable development in Peru through projects that generate value for and from the mining industry. In this way we join forces to conserve nature.

With this agreement, the Hub de Innovación Minera of Peru together with Profonanpe will make efforts to deploy activities such as: open innovation calls to solve challenges in the mining sector in accordance with the regulations issued by the environmental sector and that are part of the national and international commitments in this area, spaces for discussion of relevant issues for the mining and environmental sectors, training spaces designed to promote knowledge and a culture of innovation and collaboration, spaces around the following topics of value for the mining sector and the environment in which it operates.

According to the Hub’s General Manager, Pamela Antonioli De Rutté, “through the alliance with Profonanpe we will be able to explore innovative methodologies for the remediation of environmental liabilities in Peru.” Profonanpe has established itself as the most important private environmental fund in Peru. Since its foundation, it has been characterized for being an institution specialized in creating, developing and implementing innovative processes in technical administrative and fund management, and for articulating with all public and private stakeholders working in favor of biodiversity conservation, mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

“The alliance with the Hub de Innovación Minera of Peru will allow us to build bridges with the mining industry and explore opportunities with companies that see environmental care and nature conservation as pillars and solid foundations for a sustainable Peru,” added Anton Willems, CEO of Profonanpe. The collaborative spirit of the Hub de Innovación Minera of Peru and the mining sector’s pursuit to be recognized as an environmentally responsible industry recognizes this alliance as another opportunity to address guidelines that add value to the local industry.
