Therefore, we share with you some funding and training opportunities that you can apply for in May, June and July and that can add to your project to contribute to climate change adaptation, sustainable development, among others.
- Nominations open for Mangrove Photography Awards 2024. The Mangrove Photography Awards allow visual storytellers to showcase the beauty, diversity, and fragility of the world’s mangrove forests. Photographers of all levels and disciplines are invited. Categories for participation in the Mangrove Photography Awards are: Wildlife, People, Landscape, Threats, Underwater, Conservation Stories. - Impact Seed Funding Latin America 2024 – AI. The ISF offers micro-scale support to initiate new or develop existing collaborations between teachers, researchers, students and journalists; Increase engagement between educational communities, journalists and indigenous and traditional populations; Encourage the use of creative images (e.g., photographs, short videos, documentaries, podcasts), data images and report information in teaching materials, student activities, curricular and classroom materials or scientific publications; Facilitate the adoption of results presented in reports for relevant research and other scientific products. The ISF is designed to be flexible and responsive to the needs of educators and communities, allowing applicants to establish activities related to pressing issues of the rainforest and climate crisis. - Call for Changemakers – IUCN Leaders Forum 2024. The IUCN Changemakers Leaders Forum brings together young leaders and innovators who are designing or implementing innovative action projects for nature conservation or biodiversity in their communities. Selected young change agents will join leaders from around the world at the IUCN Leaders Forum in Geneva in October 2024 to showcase innovations for transformative change; discuss concrete actions that include nature at the nexus of energy systems, food and agriculture, and human health; and promote positive solutions for nature. - Nominations open for 2024.ORG Impact Awards. Global awards program to recognize and celebrate individuals and organizations that have a connection to a registered .ORG domain for their contributions, achievements and the impact they have had on their communities. The .ORG Impact Awards seek to celebrate significant achievements by members of the .ORG community. There are seven award categories subject to the nomination and judging process: Health and Healing, Quality Education for All, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Environmental Stewardship, Hunger and Poverty, Community Building and Rising Star. - Empower Innovation Challenge. EIC’s objective is to provide training and financing opportunities to women entrepreneurs in the green and blue economies, with an emphasis on the following sectors: agriculture, agri-food, fisheries, tourism, manufacturing (e.g., handicrafts, wood or textiles) and services (e.g., microfinance, business development, etc.). - UPG Sustainability Project Support Grant. The UPG Sustainability Project Support Grant is open to visionary leaders committed to sustainability. It offers financial support for personal projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. United People Global seeks to advance initiatives that address social challenges and promote positive change, thereby supporting citizen leadership in sustainability. Deadline June 30. Apply here.
- Nominations open for ESD Okayama Award 2024. Okayama is now accepting applications for the Okayama ESD Award 2024, which recognizes outstanding ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) initiatives anywhere in the world. The Okayama ESD Award has been held since 2015 under the joint sponsorship of Okayama City and the Okayama ESD Award Board, with the aim of honoring excellent examples of ESD in Japan and abroad, thereby supporting the activities of the awarded project organizations and contributing to the dissemination of ESD activities. - Applications open for Holohil Grant Program. Holohil is seeking applications for its grant program to support research projects that are of high value to its species, have a sound research design and positive conservation intent. For over 35 years, Holohil has supported research and educational work on endangered species for a variety of agencies and researchers. During that time, they have donated transmitters primarily for bat and raptor research. Deadline July 15. Apply here.
- Call for Participation: International To Do Award for Tourism. The Study Group for Tourism and Development has announced the International To Do Award for Tourism for socially responsible tourism for projects, measures or offers that are characterized by the active participation of the local population and the fair treatment of all those involved in tourism development. Private companies and institutions in the tourism industry, public institutions and other legal entities are eligible to apply. The international competition for socially responsible tourism, the “TO DO Award”, aims to take into account the different interests and needs of the local population when planning and implementing tourism projects, measures and offers. Participation and co-determination ensure broad participation, e.g. through information, surveys and discussions with the population when ideas and decisions are being made. Projects must also be compatible with the principles of environmental compatibility and sustainability. Deadline July 30. Apply here.
