Together to protect territories of life
Conserva Aves is about protecting habitats. This is an initiative led by the American Bird Conservancy (ABC), National Audubon Society (Audubon), BirdLife International (BirdLife), the Latin American and Caribbean Environmental Funds Network (RedLAC) and Birds Canada, to promote the creation and management of subnational protected areas, from Mexico to Chile. It has an initial funding source from the Bezos Earth Fund and a second contribution from the Canadian government.
The initiative in Peru It is implemented through open calls, whose investment and sustainability priority focuses on the creation or expansion of subnational protected areas. For example, regional, municipal, communal, indigenous, or private areas that are priorities for threatened endemic and migratory bird species. Furthermore, our initiative contributes to the funding of their management plans and financial sustainability.
Our impact so far
We seek to establish or expand new protected areas regional,
municipal, ethnic or private in priority areas for bird species
threatened endemic and migratory species. Furthermore, we are interested in strengthen
capabilities of organizations of the civil society directly
involved in actions conservation
with focus community.
Our purpose
The tropical Andes (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru) have been identified as a starting point for this initiative, due to their extraordinary biodiversity and the many threats they face.
Conserva Aves seeks to promote the creation, consolidation, management and strengthening of:
