Profonanpe and Fondo Naturaleza Chile have formalized a collaborative agreement as a result of the coordination initiated at the RedLAC 2022 Congress, which highlighted the importance of incorporating indigenous perspectives into the climate dialogue.

During the RedLAC 2022 Congress, Profonanpe and the Fondo Naturaleza Chile joined forces to ensure the direct representation of indigenous representatives in the general plenary sessions of the next annual congress. This first step laid the groundwork for dialogue and valuable coordination that culminated in the signing of this agreement.

This collaboration was reaffirmed during the XXV RedLAC 2023 Congress in Cusco, where Profonanpe, in coordination with Fondo Naturaleza Chile, organized two thematic rooms on Collective Knowledge and Access to Finance for indigenous peoples. At the end of the congress, representatives of indigenous peoples from Peru and Chile delivered a declaration highlighting the need for RedLAC environmental funds to guarantee interventions in their territories. The agreement reflects the willingness of Profonanpe and Fondo Naturaleza Chile to act as strategic allies of indigenous peoples in the conservation and sustainable development of their territories.

The agreement will allow Profonanpe and Fondo Naturaleza Chile to share information, jointly design and implement interventions, support the active participation of indigenous peoples in these interventions, and foster strategic dialogue. This collaborative approach seeks to ensure that indigenous voices are at the center of decisions related to biodiversity and sustainable development.

This agreement reflects the joint commitment of Profonanpe and Fondo Naturaleza Chile to contribute to the incorporation and active participation of indigenous peoples in the protection of the environment and the drive towards sustainable development.
