5 female content creators from Ayacucho, Ucayali, Cusco and Lima are the new Environmental Reporters of Peru

They will travel to various regions of the country to show the world the sustainable projects that are being promoted for environmental conservation and climate change adaptation and mitigation.

They are ready! After an exhaustive selection of more than 180 candidates, we present to you the 5 young women content creators who join the network of Environmental Reporters of Peru – RAP. Originally from Cusco and Ucayali, they join Renata Flores (Ayacucho) and Denisse Sotomayor (Lima), to learn first-hand about initiatives and projects that seek sustainability and environmental protection.

Meet these talented women who have joined the 2023 edition:

 

Renata Flores is a Peruvian singer from Huamanga, Ayacucho, considered the “Queen of Quechua rap in Peru”. She began studying Quechua at the age of 13 and continued to do so until college. In her songs, Renata talks about female power, war and international pop culture controversies. In 2022, she was considered one of the 50 most powerful women in Peru for her work to rescue Andean culture through her music. Follow her on Instagram and Tiktok.

 

 

Denisse Sotomayor is a professional diver and full-time underwater photographer. She worked as an editor and photographer for major national media and has collaborated for international media such as National Geographic. Today, through photos and reports, she spreads the beauty of the ocean in order to preserve it. She currently wants to travel the depths of Peru to record its biological diversity, as well as its submerged archaeological heritage. Follow her on Instagram and Tiktok.

Yeni Llamocca, also known as Saqra Warmicha, is a native of Cusco. She is an economist, passionate about travel and volunteering. She turned her passion into her job: traveling and showing Cusco to the world through social media. As Saqra Warmicha, she is a Cusco blogger, lover of hiking and sustainable tourism. Her goal is to promote environmentally responsible travel. Follow her on Instagram and Tiktok.

Caleb Tangoa is from the city of Pucallpa, she is 21 years old and is a comedy content creator known as La Tacacha. She was part of “Instructores de Baile”, she is a fan of music and dance. She has been a member of a LGTBIQ+ Organization where she has been able to record and document many internal activities. She has also been part of social activities groups (canine and environmental). Her greatest desire is to study gastronomy and acting. Follow her on Instagram and Tiktok.

 

 

Finally, Gabriela Torres, a native of the province of Atalaya in Ucayali, who from a very young age felt a connection with the forests and Amazonian peoples from field trips with her father. She studied ecotourism engineering at the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal. In 2016, she was part of the Lima Compost team as an environmental promoter. Today, she is a park ranger at the El Sira Communal Reserve – SERNANP, where she is in charge of working with native communities in favor of conservation. Visit her Instagram.

 

 

Soon the season of our new Environmental Reporters of Peru will begin, who are ready to tell us about their experiences visiting various projects that promote environmental protection.

 

Yeni “Saqra Warmicha”, Caleb “La Tacacha” and Gabo had the opportunity to exchange experiences, learn more about expression and storytelling techniques in the last workshop held in Lima by Profonanpe. They also had the opportunity to visit the Fundo Casa Blanca in Pachacamac and learn about the story of Mrs. Carmen and Ulises promoting sustainable agriculture.

 

 

About Environmental Reporters of Peru:

Since 2021, the network of Environmental Reporters of Peru – RAP, an initiative of Profonanpe in which content creators from different regions of the country join to tell and make visible stories of people committed to the conservation of nature, has been built.

The network begins with the participation of Waldir Maqque (Cusco) and Gianmarco Moreno (Loreto); while in 2022 Natalia Barrera (Lima), travellers Sheyla (Lima) and Nelyda (Huancavelica); Jhon Gleen (San Martín), Juan Sicha (Apurímac) and Priscila Peralta (Lima) will join the network.
