Production of paco and gamitana
The Queros Native Community of the Wachiperi people is located on the Queros River (EORI), known as the Alto Madre de Dios River, in the so-called Kosñipata valley of the Paucartambo province in Cusco.
The community, a partner of the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve, promotes and manages fish farms, specifically the freshwater species paco and gamitana, which are widely known in the Amazon basin for domestic consumption.
For more than 2 years, the community has been developing the reproduction of fish in the laboratory; however, it still needs to strengthen its capacity in the rearing and management of brood fish with the best characteristics, for which they will use the present funding.
Amarakaeri Communal Reserve
20 members of the Queros Native Community, who participate in the management of Amazonian fish broodstock.

Proper management and preparation of paco and gamitana breeders to produce good quality and adequate quantity of eggs and spermatozoa in the Queros native community, a member of the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve.

- Improvement of the aquaculture infrastructure for the management of Amazonian fish. - Improvement of the breeding stock of Amazonian fish, focused on producing eggs and spermatozoa in good and adequate quantity. - Strengthening of the knowledge on the management of Amazonian fish in the aquaculture producers of the Native Community of Queros. - Institutional strengthening of the aquaculture work carried out by the Queros Native Community.
