Projects, allies and territories
During the meeting, sessions were devoted to the exchange of lessons learned among regional, national and local partners. The presentations included the participation of Evelyne Morin (Birds Canada), Annie Hawkinson (American Bird Conservancy), Marcela Cabrera (RedLAC), Karime López Díaz (Audubon) and María Inés Salazar (BirdLife International), who shared the initiative's priorities and joint work approaches for the region.
In addition, the national partners Profonanpe, represented by Odile Sanchez, Project Manager, and Yuliana Castro, Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager; and ECOAN, Constantino Aucca, president of the Andean Ecosystems Association, highlighted the progress achieved in the country and presented the actions they are promoting in coordination with the six local organizations, whose representatives presented the progress of their projects, the territories in which they intervene and the challenges they face. in the process of creating and expanding Private Conservation Areas (PCAs) and Regional Conservation Areas (RCAs).

Capacity-building and management tools
The workshop also provided an opportunity to delve deeper into key aspects of conservation management, from the creation of protected areas to the integration of social and administrative approaches. Jorge Catpo, representative of SERNANP, explained the technical, legal and social aspects related to the creation, recognition and expansion of RCAs and PCAs.
Yohannaliz Vega, head of Profonanpe's Indigenous and Native Peoples Office, promoted a space for dialogue on interculturality, highlighting the importance of recognizing cultural diversity and local knowledge present in the territories where Conserva Aves projects intervene.
Likewise, María Inés Salazar, from BirdLife International, stressed the relevance of incorporating gender equality and social inclusion in conservation processes; while Franco Panza, from Birds Canada, presented the administrative and financial guidelines that guide the implementation of the initiative.

Conservation in action
As part of the meeting, the participants made a field visit to the outskirts of Chachapoyas, where they were able to observe birds in the Achamaqui Estate and learn about local conservation experiences, such as the Milpuj Private Conservation Area. The day culminated with a visit to the fortress of Kuélap, The project is a symbol of the region's cultural heritage, reinforcing the link between nature and culture in conservation strategies.

A shared commitment
The Partners' Meeting of the Conserve Birds initiative reaffirmed the importance of coordination between the different levels of local, national and regional management, as well as the value of international cooperation to strengthen joint work for conservation.
Technical support from Profonanpe and ECOAN, leading partners in Peru, will be essential to ensure effective project implementation and local capacity building.
With this collective effort, Conserva Aves renews its commitment to safeguard the habitats of hundreds of endemic and migratory birds, guardians of the territories of life.
