Meet the winners of the 2020 Nature Entrepreneurs contest

Loreto, Ucayali, Madre de Dios, Pasco, Tumbes, Cusco and Cajamarca are the departments to which the entrepreneurs who win the prize belong.

 “Entrepreneurs by Nature” is the first competition of the Program for Conservation and Sustainable Development (PROCODES) which has allocated an amount of more than S/ 650,000 to boost micro and small businesses. This competition is being promoted by Sernanp and Profonanpe starting this year.

 

The nine winners who will receive funding to boost their ventures are: Intuto Hunters Association (Loreto), San Martín Agricultural and Biodiversity Producers Association (Ucayali), Savia Ecological Products SRL (Loreto), Tambopata Candamo-Coopaser Multiple Services Agricultural Cooperative (Madre de Dios), Sancore Agricultural and Forestry Producers Association Pampa Cocha Sector (Pasco), Edgardo Castro Belapatiño (Pasco), Northwest Peru Mangroves Consortium (Tumbes), Queros Native Community (Cusco) and San Ignacio Border Agricultural Cooperative LTDA (Cajamarca). 

 

The Intuto Hunters Association promotes the sustainable use of wild game, and the San Martín del Medio Purús Biodiversity Agricultural Producers Association seeks to develop its production chain for obtaining açaí pulp. Likewise, Savia Productos Ecológicos offers biodegradable, utilitarian products, while the Tambopata Candamo Multi-Service Agricultural Cooperative and the Sancore Pampa Sector Agricultural and Forestry Producers Association are focused on the sustainable production of cacao. 

 

For its part, the Northwest Peru Mangroves Consortium is dedicated to the extraction of hydrobiological resources, and the Native Community of Queros, from the Wachiperi people, manages fish farms. Finally, we have the San Ignacio Border Agricultural Cooperative, which is strengthening the honey production chain and its related products. derivatives, and to Mr. Edgardo Castro, who seeks to provide support to 20 residents of 5 native communities in the sustainable use of dragon's blood latex.

 

Furthermore, in keeping with our commitment to enhance opportunities for women leaders and entrepreneurs, we announce that  Savia, Organic Products SRL y San Ignacio Border Agricultural Cooperative LTDA These are the two winning proposals led by women.. Each one receives a total amount of S/.80,000.00 and S/.64,000.00, respectively. 

 

Entrepreneurs by Nature was born with the objective of to promote and strengthen private ventures for the sustainable use of natural resources associated with protected natural areas (PNAs), that contribute to their conservation and generate local economic development. This competition is thus part of a conservation strategy for our protected natural areas., promoted by the Ministry of the Environment, through Sernanp, and funded by Profonanpe.

 

Starting the week of January 4, 2020, Profonanpe will contact the winners to begin the process of signing the donation agreements. We extend our congratulations to the nine winners of the competition and invite all our entrepreneurs to continue participating in future opportunities.
