The purpose of the visit was to see firsthand the progress made by the eco-businesses promoted by the Mala Sostenible Project, an initiative that promotes purpose-driven tourism and the growth of local businesses, funded and led by Compañía Minera Condestable and implemented by Profonanpe.

The initiative also sought to hear directly from its members, who shared their experiences, lessons learned, and challenges in implementing sustainable business models that generate economic, social, and environmental benefits for the community.

Representatives from the following eco-businesses participated in the event:

  • ECODEP, which presented the production process for Puquichi chifles and the products developed through the reuse of waste oil.
  • PROBIMA, which showcased its organic fertilizer production and its collaboration with other local businesses to make use of waste.
  • AMMEC, a community-based organization led by women that promotes alternatives for reusing plastic bags by transforming them into plastic leather for the manufacture of various products.
  • BIOPROTEICA, a circular economy startup that transforms organic waste through bioconversion using black soldier fly larvae to produce protein for animal feed and biofertilizers.

The delegation learned how collaboration among the community, the private sector, and specialized organizations helps create opportunities for sustainable development, strengthen local capacities, and promote innovative solutions for waste management and the sustainable use of resources.

For their part, representatives of Compañía Minera Condestable highlighted the value of the partnership with Profonanpe, which has made it possible to promote these eco-businesses and generate direct benefits for the families of the Mala Rural Community.
