Second international edition of Peru Remedia: challenges to achieve environmental remediation in the Peruvian Amazon

August 29, 2022. In Peru, remediating the environmental impact of hydrocarbon activities in the Amazon is of vital importance and urgency. Peru Remedia is a virtual event where specialists and key stakeholders will discuss in detail the objectives, strategies, and processes being implemented to carry out this crucial task. Organized by Profonanpe, Peru's private environmental fund, this international event will hold its second edition on September 15th, featuring four discussion panels that will prioritize the inclusion of environmental remediation on the country's agenda.

The topics covered in this virtual event will introduce participants to the challenges of environmental remediation, from the origins of the Contingency Fund and its historical context, to the contributions and expectations of key stakeholders—including the government, community leaders, legislators, and fund administrators—and the limitations and potential of the process itself. The event will also delve into the various financial mechanisms for managing these funds, evaluating successful international case studies.
