The Carlos Ponce del Prado Conservation Award 2022 was launched

Until October 16, you can nominate the heroes and heroines of nature who have left a mark on you.

Yesterday marked the launch of the Carlos Ponce del Prado Award, which aims to encourage and recognize the work of professionals actively dedicated to the conservation of Peru's biodiversity. This award is inspired by the work and legacy of engineer Carlos Ponce, a mentor, role model, and one of the most well-known and beloved figures in the recent history of nature conservation.

In its fourteenth edition, the categories to which naturally committed people can be nominated are: Conservation Champion, Distinguished Park Ranger, Outstanding Park Ranger, Outstanding Young Conservationist, and Environmental Personality. The latter is an honorary recognition of a renowned conservationist who, throughout their career, has contributed to the support and scope of achievements in conservation.

The Carlos Ponce del Prado Award 2022 – promoted by Conservation International, Andes Amazon Fund, Wildlife Conservation Society and Profonanpe, with the support of the Ministry of the Environment and the National Service of Natural Protected Areas – SERNANP, has awarded prizes to 80 people so far who dedicate their lives to protecting our biodiversity, a task that needs everyone's help.

This year, The Carlos Ponce Award seeks to highlight the legacy of all conservationists who have left their mark and inspire us to actively engage, both individually and collectively, in the country's sustainable development. This is done within the framework of a multidisciplinary, gender, intercultural and intergenerational approach, which aims to recognize the importance of the work of the men and women who guide us on the path of conservation: park rangers, leaders and environmental defenders, heirs of our nature, who dream of a natural home for everyone.

Nominate the hero or heroine who has left a mark on you here.
