Profonanpe ventures into the sustainable industrial sector by joining the ZIS Peru project

This initiative is a joint effort between the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE), the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Profonanpe.

At the 1st International Forum on the Development of Sustainable Industrial Zones in Peru, held on October 27th, the project “Development of Sustainable Industrial Zones in Peru (ZIS Peru)” was presented, which brings together the work of PRODUCE, MINAM, UNIDO and Profonanpe. Through this initiative, the aim is to create a sustainable industrial zone model, based on modern and clean technologies that in turn allow companies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

This project will contribute to sustainable development by demonstrating new tools and economic approaches for managing hazardous chemicals and waste in industrial areas, with the aim of mitigating climate change. It will have four components: the policy framework, capacity building, demonstration of clean technologies, and monitoring and evaluation.

Profonanpe, in its role as trustee, is responsible for creating and transferring the trust to the companies benefiting from the project. For this purpose, the Sustainable Technology Adoption Fund (ATS Fund) was created, with an amount exceeding US$2 million, which will leverage projects worth more than US$20 million, thus promoting a sustainable industrial zone model in Lima and Callao that can be replicated in other areas of the country.

“A trust is an instrument that guarantees the operability of funds. Profonanpe joins the ZIS Peru Project due to its expertise in raising and managing investment portfolios and trusts.” Christian Bueno, Administration and Finance Manager at Profonanpe, pointed this out. He also emphasized that the trust keeps the fund's money safe regardless of the entities involved in the project.
