In each of these regions, the workshops were attended by key regional stakeholders, including companies and producer organizations and representatives of regional governments, municipalities, the National Forestry Service (Serfor) and the National Service of Natural Protected Areas (Sernanp), among others.

These presentations highlighted the relevance of the initiative to promote business projects that contribute to the mitigation of carbon emissions through the conservation and restoration of forests, in a context of growing concern about deforestation and degradation in the Amazon. In addition, detailed information was provided on how to apply for the contest, allowing participants to resolve doubts and identify how to strengthen their proposals.

Benefits of the contest
The Amazon Bioinvestment competition will provide partially reimbursable seed capital financing - with amounts that can reach up to US$$150,000, depending on the maturity of the biobusiness.
The selected companies will also receive business advice to strengthen their business models, which will enable them to improve their management and access to financing to develop their products and services. In addition, the call for proposals Puerto Maldonado, Madre de Dios

Requirements and deadline
The call is aimed at companies, cooperatives, associations, rural communities and individuals operating in the Amazon biome. Selection criteria include:
- To have a minimum of one year of formal incorporation.
- To have an active and valid Single Taxpayers Registry (RUC).
- Present annual sales within the parameters established for micro and small businesses.
- Not to generate high environmental and social risks, and,
- To have the right to use the forest area related to the bio-business and the corresponding permit for the use of forest resources.

A boost for the bioeconomy in Amazonia
“With Amazon Bioinvestment we seek to transform the potential of the Amazon into sustainable development opportunities, ensuring that forest protection goes hand in hand with the economic growth of local communities.”, said Kurt Rothschild, manager of the Eco and Bio Business Finance Facility project.
This initiative joins the efforts of the Ministry of the Environment, Profonanpe, the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and its strategic allies to promote the bioeconomy and responsible investment, contributing to the mitigation of climate change and the conservation of a vital ecosystem for the country.
