They're ready! After a thorough selection process of over 180 candidates, we present the 5 young female content creators joining the network of Environmental Reporters of Peru – RAP. Originally from Cusco and Ucayali, they join Renata Flores (Ayacucho) and Denisse Sotomayor (Lima) to learn firsthand about initiatives and projects that seek sustainability and environmental protection.

Meet these talented women who have joined in the 2023 edition:
Renata Flores Renata is a Peruvian singer, originally from Huamanga, Ayacucho, considered the 'Queen of Quechua Rap in Peru'. She began studying Quechua at age 13 and continued through university. In her songs, Renata addresses female empowerment, war, and controversies within international pop culture. In 2022, she was named one of the 50 most powerful women in Peru for her work in preserving Andean culture through her music. Follow her on Instagram y TikTok.

Denisse Sotomayor She is a professional diver and full-time underwater photographer. She has worked as a writer and photographer for major national media outlets and has collaborated with international publications such as National Geographic. Today, through her photos and reports, she shares the beauty of the ocean to promote its conservation. She currently wants to explore the depths of Peru to document its biodiversity and submerged archaeological heritage. Follow her on Instagram y TikTok.

Selected:
Yeni Llamocca, Also known as Saqra Warmicha, she is from Cusco. An economist, she is passionate about travel and volunteering. She turned her passion into her work: traveling and showcasing Cusco to the world through social media. As Saqra Warmicha, she is a Cusco-based blogger, a lover of hiking and sustainable tourism. Her goal is to promote environmentally responsible travel. Follow her on Instagram y TikTok.

Caleb Tangoa She is from the city of Pucallpa, is 21 years old, and is a comedy content creator known as The Tacacha. She was part of a dance instructor group and is a music and dance enthusiast. She has been a member of an organization. LGBTQ+ where she has been able to record and document many internal activities. She has also been part of social activity groups (canine and environmental). Her greatest desire is to study gastronomy and acting. Follow her on Instagram y TikTok.

Finally, Gabriela Torres, Originally from the province of Atalaya in Ucayali, she felt a connection to the Amazonian forests and peoples from a very young age through field trips with her father. She studied ecotourism engineering at the National University Federico Villarreal. In 2016, she joined the Lima Compost team as an environmental promoter. Today, she is a park ranger at the El Sira Communal Reserve – SERNANP, where she works with native communities on conservation efforts. Visit her Instagram.

The season of our new Environmental Reporters from Peru will begin soon, and they are ready to tell us about their experiences visiting various projects that promote environmental protection.
Yeni “Saqra Warmicha”, Caleb “La Tacacha”, and Gabo had the opportunity to exchange experiences and learn more about expression and storytelling techniques at the latest workshop held in Lima by Profonanpe. They also had the opportunity to visit the Casa Blanca farm in Pachacamac and learn about the story of Mrs. Carmen and Ulises promoting sustainable agriculture.
About Environmental Reporters of Peru:
Since 2021, the Environmental Reporters of Peru network – RAP – has been built, an initiative of Profonanpe in which content creators from different regions of the country join together to tell and make visible the stories of people committed to the conservation of nature.
The network begins with the participation of Waldir Maqque (Cusco) and Gianmarco Moreno (Loreto); while in 2022 Natalia Barrera (Lima), the travelers Sheyla (Lima) and Nelyda (Huancavelica); Jhon Gleen (San Martín), Juan Sicha (Apurímac) and Priscila Peralta (Lima) are added.
