Sernanp is the governing body of the National System of Natural Areas Protected by the State (Sinanpe). Sernanp designed the Program for Conservation and Sustainable Development (Procodes), which aims to conserve biodiversity and contribute to local economic development through a strategy of sustainable management and use of natural resources, for the benefit of communities associated with Natural Protected Areas. The Entrepreneurs for Nature interventions are implemented within the framework of Procodes.

In compliance with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Policy, projects identify the environmental, social, and gender risks associated with their initiatives and develop an Environmental and Social Management Plan with prevention and mitigation measures, as well as key actions for monitoring and evaluation. The projects also have a Complaints and Suggestions Mechanism to establish appropriate channels for addressing issues related to project implementation.
Through the implementation of these projects, the basic conditions for the sustainable use of natural resources in Protected Natural Areas are improved, contributing to diversification and local economic development. This strengthens the economic resilience of the country's most vulnerable populations, while simultaneously building and reinforcing mechanisms that ensure the conservation of ecosystems associated with resource use, in line with the effective management and adaptation of Protected Natural Areas to the effects of climate change.
