The contest is part of the Puna Resiliente project and seeks to promote climate adaptation in 58 districts in Arequipa, Apurímac, Cusco, Puno and Yauyos (Lima).

The Fondo Concursable Puna of the Puna Resiliente project opens its second call to finance local initiatives that promote climate adaptation in rural communities and preserve their livelihoods located above 3500 meters above sea level.

In this call, peasant communities, producer associations and cooperatives in the process of formalization in alliance with a Civil Society Organization (CSO) may participate for a grant of up to S/. 480 thousand for the modality known as ‘window 1’.

The selected local initiatives must be located in the 58 eligible districts of Arequipa, Apurimac, Cusco, Puno and Yauyos (Lima).

For this call, more than 16 million soles will be invested to finance up to 30 local initiatives.

Interested organizations will have until October 27, 2025 to submit their proposals.

The projects must integrate Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) measures -such as the conservation of pastures, wetlands and forests- into camelid value chains (alpaca, llama and vicuña) and high Andean crops such as native potatoes and quinoa, ensuring that they remain competitive and sustainable in the face of phenomena such as drought, frost or heavy rains.

Boosting applications in Cusco and Puno

With more than 100 representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), workshops were held in Cusco and Puno to encourage applications for this second call.

During the workshops, participants were able to learn about the requirements, the application stages and the schedule for window 1. In addition, they were able to answer questions and learn about the characteristics that local climate adaptation initiatives must have.

Representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), the German cooperation agency GIZ and Profonanpe participated in these events.
