The Unidos Venceremos community receives recognition as winner of the Entrepreneurs for Nature contest in Huascarán National Park

The event was attended by the Head of Sernanp, José Ramírez; the Head of Huascarán National Park, William Martínez Finquín; the representative of the “Unidos Venceremos” Community, Carlos Jaime Ramos; and the Administration and Finance Manager of Profonanpe, Christian Bueno.

Yesterday, the "United We Will Win" peasant community of Huascarán National Park, in Áncash, was recognized as representing the winning projects of the second edition of the "Entrepreneurs by Nature" contest.

The ceremony took place at Chinancocha Lagoon, located within Huascarán National Park, where the "Unidos Venceremos" Community carries out some of its activities. "This community is a key player in the management of Huascarán National Park, providing national and international visitors with a meaningful and unforgettable tourism experience on the María Josefa and Llanganuco Trails, thus contributing to the positioning and conservation of the Park, and the economic development of the community and its members," stated William Martínez, Head of Huascarán National Park.

For his part, José Ramírez, head of Sernanp, reaffirmed the commitment to continue supporting Conservation Allies such as the "Unidos Venceremos" community, to contribute to the development of the local economy and to strengthen their important role in the conservation of protected natural areas such as Huascarán National Park.

The “Entrepreneurs by Nature” initiative seeks to promote and strengthen private ventures for the sustainable use of natural resources linked to protected natural areas. Christian Bueno, Administration and Finance Manager of Profonanpe, emphasized this point: “When we launched Entrepreneurs by Nature with Sernanp, we did so with the enthusiasm of giving visibility to those entrepreneurs committed to the care of protected natural areas and the environment. For Profonanpe, it is important that they see us as an ally to boost their ventures through the financial support we provide in this competition.”

As you may recall, the winning projects of the second edition of “Nature-Based Entrepreneurs” were announced on January 5, 2022. You can learn more about the initiatives and the objectives of their projects at https://profonanpe.org.pe/concurso-emprendedores-por-naturaleza/
