Profonanpe participated in the “Meeting on International Climate Funds”

The virtual meeting included the participation of professionals from environmental funds and multilateral banks.

Yesterday, the "Meeting on International Climate Funds" was held, organized by CEOE, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Treasury and International Finance, and ICEX Spain Export and Investment. The objective of this meeting was to highlight the opportunities that private companies can find in climate funds.

During the event, the importance of climate fund financing in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals was highlighted, as well as previous experiences in implementing collaborative projects. Claudia Godfrey, Director of Innovation and Strategic Management at Profonanpe, represented Peru at the event and emphasized Profonanpe's role as Peru's first and only environmental fund, which has also been accredited by the Green Climate Fund and the Adaptation Fund. Over its 30 years of operation, Profonanpe has raised more than US$357 million and has been recognized for the efficient and transparent execution of projects implemented throughout Peru. She also indicated the importance of having a common goal with private entities and working together to achieve the sustainable development goals: "We engage with the private sector based on our experience as the first and only environmental fund in Peru."“

In addition, the meeting included the participation of international environmental organizations and representatives from institutions such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC), and COFIDES; as well as private companies with experience in financing. Other entities present included COFIDES, represented by its Deputy Director, José Carlos Villena, who stated that their role as a company is to bring the flows and management of potential Green Climate Fund programs and projects to Spain and to serve Spanish companies.

The participation of companies like Signify Iberia, Siemens Gamesa, Iberdrola, and NTT Data was invaluable for sharing experiences on financing and raising awareness about the importance of international climate funds. Ultimately, the goal is to encourage more Spanish and international companies to collaborate with this fund.

Profonanpe, as Peru's environmental fund, will continue to participate in and promote these types of spaces, where exchanges and collaboration with the private sector take place to work towards the sustainability of the planet.
