This collaboration agreement aims to strengthen the management of Yanachaga Chemillén National Park (PNYCH) and the San Matías San Carlos Protection Forest (BPSMSC), through joint efforts to implement long-term sustainability strategies.

In addition, it will focus on implementing the Amazonian Indigenous REDD+ (RIA) model, designed to reduce deforestation in indigenous territories and promote sustainable economic activities led by indigenous communities.

The Kowen Antami Consortium, comprising Sustainable Rural Development (DRIS), the Association of Asháninka Communities of the Pichis Valley (ANAP), the Association for the Conservation and Management of the Yanesha Communal Reserve (AMARCY), and the National Service of Protected Natural Areas (SERNANP) have signed the Management Contract for Yanachaga Chemillen National Park – PNYCH and the San Matías San Carlos Protection Forest – BPSMSC.

Profonanpe reaffirms its commitment to biodiversity

This agreement reaffirms Profonanpe’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and the development of indigenous communities, promoting an innovative model of co-management in which indigenous organizations play a central role in the administration of protected areas.

This is the first time a consortium has included indigenous organizations and signed a management contract for non-community-owned protected areas, marking a milestone in environmental management in the country.
