Tropical Forest Conservation Agreement (TCCA II)

The objective of this fund is to promote the conservation of tropical forests and environmental projects in priority areas of the Peruvian Amazon; the conservation of these areas is vital for all of humanity, but especially for local populations. This fund will also strengthen the management of existing protected areas and generate links between nature and local families with sustainable businesses that value Amazonian non-timber resources for the benefit of the communities.

They form a set of strategic regions for the protection of biodiversity in Peru. These areas are home to Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) and sites of the Alliance for Zero Extinction (AZE), where endemic and critically endangered species are found. Their conservation is essential to maintaining the balance of unique ecosystems, such as the Amazon, the tropical Andes, and montane forests, contributing to the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss globally.

The populations living within the area of projects subsidized by the ACBT (Agreement on the Conservation of Tropical Biodiversity) They play a key role in the protection and sustainable use of ecosystems. These communities, many of them indigenous or native, live directly alongside the biodiversity that is being conserved, and their active participation strengthens conservation, land management, and sustainable development processes in the prioritized regions.

In the 2025-I call for proposals 111 applications were received, of which 46 were admitted and 19 organizations won, with coverage in 6 regions of the country, access to two funding modalities (S/ 200 thousand and S/ 1.25 million) and an inclusive approach, highlighting 9 organizations led by women and 6 proposals with leadership or direct participation of indigenous peoples.

Launching event of the 2025-I Call for Proposals held in a decentralized manner in Cusco on June 18, with the participation of members of the Oversight Committee, regional authorities, civil society and local media, gathering approximately 60 attendees and strengthening the territorial dissemination of the call for proposals.

Territorial dissemination and articulation through the official launch in Cusco, 2 face-to-face workshops in Cusco and Madre de Dios, 7 bilateral meetings in Atalaya and 15 virtual meetings with key stakeholders, strengthening coordination with strategic partners.

Broad media outreach with 87 media appearances (70 regional and 17 national), achieving a potential reach of more than 21 million views and an estimated advertising value of more than USD 28,000.

Intercultural communication through the broadcasting of 6 radio spots in Spanish, Quechua Chanka, Quechua Collao and Asháninka, reaching 690,600 reproductions and 138,200 unique listeners.
