Since 2013, Compañía Minera Condestable SA (CMC) has been developing the Condestable mining project in the district of Mala, province of Cañete. This project aims to exploit an underground deposit of iron oxide, copper, and gold covering more than 45,000 hectares. CMC is also working with the Mala farming community and, in partnership with Profonanpe, is implementing a sustainability project. This project, driven and supported by the company's sustainability department, seeks to generate impactful results in the medium and long term, contributing to improved living conditions for the community members and positively impacting the environment.
Profonanpe is the environmental fund of Peru that provides innovative alternatives for environmental care and sustainable development.
The project is being implemented in the district of Mala, specifically in the rural community of Mala.
The direct beneficiaries of this project are the women and men who are members of the Mala Peasant Community and who participate directly in the project activities, specifically within the framework of components 1, 2, and 3. Also included are those families who directly benefit from the provision of drinking water, an activity framed within component 4; infrastructure that will be implemented and delivered to the Mala Peasant Community for its management; as well as the District Municipality of Mala, which benefits from the implementation of infrastructure linked to the tourist route of the district of Mala.
