Puna Concursable Fund of the Puna Resiliente project

Establish and manage a mechanism that will finance local initiatives led by indigenous peoples and local communities on adaptation measures based on climate-resilient ecosystems and value chains, and mobilize funds from private and other donors. This initiative is part of the project «Resilient Puna: Ecosystem-based Adaptation for Sustainable High Andean Communities and Ecosystems in Peru,» implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Profonanpe

Profonanpe is Peru's environmental fund that provides innovative alternatives for environmental protection and sustainable development.

Location:

Puno, Cusco, Arequipa, Apurímac and Lima

These regions play a vital role in the conservation of high Andean biodiversity. Through their local knowledge, the sustainable use of natural resources, and their direct connection to the puna ecosystems, these communities promote concrete actions that strengthen land management, climate resilience, and sustainable development in harmony with nature.

Beneficiary:

Agricultural producers from the high Andean zones organized into different categories

Local communities, community businesses, producer associations, cooperatives, micro and small businesses.

It is expected to reach 31,750 direct beneficiaries within the target regions of the southern high Andean zone of Peru, of which 15,875 will be women.

Development of the "Fondo Concursable Puna" contest for more than S/. 5 million, awarding more than S/3 million to 07 initiatives that will develop activities in strategic areas such as the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, its buffer zone and the Cotahuasi Sub-basin Landscape Reserve, where the climate impact is already tangible for hundreds of families.
