At the end of April, the residents of Tumayhuaracca and surrounding districts of the Apurimac region prepared their parcels to be taken to their relatives.<\/p>\n

Days later, the remittances were received at the residents\u2019 association of San Juan de Lurigancho and Los Olivos. As a sign of reciprocity, they gave them 500 masks to be distributed in the communities of Tumayhuaraca.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Weeks later, the farmers of Huayana (Apurimac) requested support from their authorities to transport food products to their families. With support from the Municipality of Huayana and the GEF-Agrobiodiversity Project, they coordinated the shipment of these consignments to be delivered to three final points in the city of Lima: San Juan de Miraflores, Callao, Jicamarca and Huarochir\u00ed.<\/p>\n

Another region of the country, this time the Huancavelica Region, joined this solidarity experience. In the city of Lima, the distribution points were: Vitarte, San Luis and San Juan de Lurigancho.<\/p>\n

In the Cusco region, from the District Municipality of Lares, producers joined forces to send their remittances to relatives in Arequipa and Lima.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Among the products received were native potatoes, corn, wheat, cheese, avocado, coffee and honey. These foods helped to mitigate in some way the economy of many people who are going through difficult times in this quarantine and who, due to lack of income, cannot access basic necessities, in addition to the risk of contagion they run when they go out to the food markets.<\/p>\n

Apachicuy, the ancestral practice of solidarity that has brought out the best in Peruvians in times of Covid-19.<\/p>\n
