During the meeting, the importance of initiatives such as the \u201cFruits of the Amazon\u201d competitive fund, which allocates more than US$$ 1.1 million to finance up to 20 sustainable business plans of native communities, producer associations, cooperatives, community enterprises and other rural organizations in the prioritized provinces of Loreto-Nauta, Atalaya and Satipo, was highlighted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through these actions, the company seeks to promote forest conservation by providing non-reimbursable seed capital and specialized technical assistance to promote the development of sustainable bio-businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

More than 60 attendees participated in the event, which promoted dialogue, inter-institutional coordination and capacity building for integrated territorial management.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

The promotion of the local economy in the Peruvian Amazon and capacity building in public management for better environmental governance were the main topics addressed during the presentation of the \u201cFruits of the Amazon\u201d competitive fund and the inauguration of the Senior Management Program in Public Management with a focus on Integrated Territorial Management, held this afternoon in the city of Iquitos, Loreto.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event, headed by the head of the Ministry of the Environment, Nelly Paredes del Castillo, was attended by the Deputy Governor of Loreto, Dolibeth Bardales; the representative in Peru of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Head of Office for the Andean Countries and Southern Cone, Juan Diego Ruiz; the Environmental Coordinator of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Peru, Rocio Malleux; and the Executive Director of Profonanpe, Anton Willems.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Leaders<\/span><\/p>\n

Leaders and representatives of indigenous organizations from the three prioritized territories attended the meeting held in Iquitos.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThis call seeks to strengthen inclusive and responsible initiatives that promote the sustainable use of Amazonian biodiversity and generate development opportunities for the communities of the territory. In this context, the deadline for applications has been extended until Sunday, June 7.<\/em>\u201dsaid Cristina Portocarrero, technical coordinator of the ASL2 Amazon Forests project.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As part of the event, it was also announced the launching of the Senior Management Program in Public Management with a focus on Integrated Territorial Management, promoted in coordination with the National School of Public Administration (ENAP) - SERVIR.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Through this program, 50 officials from local governments, regional governments and entities such as the Ministry of the Environment, the National Forestry and Wildlife Service (Serfor) and the National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (Sernanp) have been trained, who will have access to specialized training of 336 academic hours on issues related to public management, innovation, digital transformation, monitoring and evaluation, conflict management and environmental governance as a basis for proper decision making with a strategic vision of the territory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives of MINAM, Profonanpe, IFAD and FAO participated in the presentation of initiatives aimed at strengthening environmental governance and sustainable development in the Amazon.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Both initiatives are part of the ASL2 Amazonian Forests project, which is led by the Ministry of the Environment, with financing from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and executed by Profonanpe, the country's private environmental fund. <\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
