This meeting marks an important milestone in the consolidation of 13 bio-businesses from 6 Amazonian regions: Loreto, San Martin, Amazonas, Madre de Dios, Cusco and Puno; which have the potential to generate sustainable income while conserving and restoring Amazon forests.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

These trainings were conducted by NESsT Peru, the innovation partner in charge of implementing the business advisory program promoted by the Eco and Bio-Business Finance Facility (EBBF Amazon) project, executed by Profonanpe, in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment and financed by the Green Climate Fund.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The workshops were held in 2 cities: in Puerto Maldonado (Madre de Dios), where 5 bio-businesses that won partial reimbursable financing from the first edition of Amazon Bioinvestment 2025 participated: Agroindustria Forestal Santa Teresa, <\/span>Cock of the Rock Lodge<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Herpiro (Soqtapata)<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Chonta Tourist Services<\/span><\/a> and Empresa Forestal New Ways. They worked on individual and group activities on commercial and financial topics, such as cash flow, analysis of financial indicators, among others. They also exchanged experiences and knowledge during the two-day workshop.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The second workshop was held in Tarapoto (San Martin), with the participation of 8 winning bio-businesses in total, 5 of which were business advisory services, from the first edition of Amazon Bioinvestment 2025: <\/span>San Gaban Agricultural Cooperative<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Cooperativa de Servicios M\u00faltiples Tambopata Candamo (Coopaser)<\/span><\/a>, Awajun Wampis Agrarian Indigenous Cooperative (Tuntanain), <\/span>Association of Sustainable Producers Awajun del Mara\u00f1on (Aprosam) <\/span><\/a>and Asociaci\u00f3n de Productores Tajimat Cacao Awajun Comunidad Nativa de Nuevo Progreso; as well as 3 bio-businesses that received partially reimbursable financing such as <\/span>Agrobosque Cooperative<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Green Gold Forestry<\/span><\/a> and the <\/span>Sustainable Development Network of Agricultural and Livestock Producers Organero Gera<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

The third day of each workshop was dedicated to providing specialized individual advice according to the industry and needs of each company, recognizing very different challenges for companies in different industries such as non-timber forest harvesting, ecotourism and agroforestry production.<\/span><\/p>\n

Closing critical gaps for growth<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

During the first two days of each workshop, the biobusinesses delved into financial concepts and risk assessment, which are essential for investors and financial institutions to assess the viability of their projects. At the same time, they worked on the development of commercial narratives and capital raising, two key tools for Amazonian bio-businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00ab<\/span>The companies not only learned about financial issues, but also how to <\/span><\/i>scaling its value, <\/i><\/b>with a view to a possible articulation with potential sources of financing to generate greater economic, social and environmental impact, specifically in relation to the mitigation of emissions.<\/span><\/i>\u00bb <\/span>said Kurt Rothschild, manager of the EBBF Amazon\u00eda project.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tools for new opportunities<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One of the concrete products that each biobusiness generated was its commercial pitch, a 3-minute structured presentation that summarizes the business model, environmental impact and value proposition. This tool places these companies in a position to present themselves credibly to investment funds, corporate buyers and potential strategic allies.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In addition, the biobusinesses prepared financial executive summaries that identify the risks (market, production, regulatory and financial) that they may face, a practice that increases their chances of obtaining financing.
