The DCI Project has mobilized more than US$9.5 million since 2024 in favor of the Peruvian Amazon, working in coordination with the project's 13 implementing partners, which include regional governments, State sectors and indigenous organizations. This amount is in addition to the US$4.5 million from the State's counterpart, together with other projects and cooperation sources, with the common goal of contributing to reducing deforestation and strengthening sustainable forest management in the Peruvian Amazon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

These advances were presented at the second Board of Directors meeting of 2026, where a cumulative execution of 95% of the resources allocated for the 2024-2026 period was reported, in interventions related to conservation, forest governance and sustainable development.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Among the main advances is the achievement of 100% of the 2026 target for the area under mitigation measures for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, with 580,600 hectares covered as of March.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Progress was reported in key components such as agroforestry systems, community forest management, surveillance in conservation areas, titling of native communities and strengthening of forest control mechanisms, helping to reduce deforestation, strengthen territorial governance and promote sustainable development and the well-being of Amazonian populations.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Within this framework, the Board of Directors approved the project's technical-administrative closure plan, an instrument that will guide the completion of activities, the closing of programmatic gaps and the final evaluation of results during 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Board of Directors was attended by representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, the Norwegian Embassy, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, the National Forestry and Wildlife Service, the Amazon Regional Commonwealth representing the regional governments of Loreto, Amazonas, San Martin, Ucayali, Huanuco and Madre de Dios, as well as the indigenous organizations Aidesep, Conap and Anecap, and Profonanpe as technical secretariat.<\/span><\/p>\n

About the Joint Statement of Intent (JIU), its Financial Mechanism and the JIU Project<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Joint Declaration of Intent (JIU) is a voluntary cooperation agreement signed in 2014 by the governments of Peru, Norway and Germany, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. In the addendum signed for the period 2021-2025, the United Kingdom joined the agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The ICD has a Financial Mechanism, administered by Profonananpe, which manages the resources for the implementation of its phases. Within this framework, the ICD Project is currently being executed, which contributes to the implementation of the Updated Plan 2021-2025. It is led by the Ministry of Environment and executed by Profonanpe, with funding from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) through the Norwegian International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI), and the participation as implementing partners of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, through SERFOR; Sernanp; the Ministry of Culture; the regional governments of San Martin, Huanuco, Ucayali, Loreto, Amazonas and Madre de Dios; and the indigenous organizations AIDESEP, CONAP and ANECAP.
