{"id":53378,"date":"2026-04-24T00:46:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T05:46:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=53378"},"modified":"2026-04-24T00:46:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T05:46:19","slug":"lambayeque-updates-its-regional-climate-change-strategy-with-2050-risk-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/lambayeque-actualiza-su-estrategia-regional-de-cambio-climatico-con-estudio-de-riesgos-al-2050\/","title":{"rendered":"lambayeque updates its regional climate change strategy with 2050 risk study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/regionlambayeque.gob.pe\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regional Government of Lambayeque<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with the technical assistance of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gob.pe\/minam\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ministry of the Environment<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the support of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Profonanpe<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through the p<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/living-watersheds\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he Cuencas Vivas (Living Watersheds) project<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, developed the Climate Change Risk Analysis Study as part of the process of updating the Regional Climate Change Strategy (ERCC).<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This study made it possible to identify areas vulnerable to floods, water shortages, increased temperatures and other extreme weather events, providing key information for planning and decision making in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The process involved the participation of the Lambayeque Regional Environmental Commission (CAR), which brought together more than 30 representatives from public and private institutions. As a result, adaptation measures were identified in line with the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), which establishes the country's climate change goals. In these areas, effects such as ecosystem degradation and pressure on water resources are observed, with consequences for production and livelihoods. Faced with this scenario, it is proposed to prioritize a progressive implementation of adaptation measures, combining actions at the district level with interventions at the basin level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This process will allow proposing actions, activities and projects aimed at strengthening climate change management in the region, through the implementation of adaptation and mitigation measures.<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u201d<\/em>, said Juan Jos\u00e9 Ino\u00f1an, Specialist in the Regional Management of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GRRNGA) <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the Regional Government of Lambayeque.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe big challenge now is to complete and implement <\/span><b>the Regional Climate Change Strategy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, The information will be translated into measures that will directly benefit the citizens\u201d.\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, said Rogger Morales, a specialist in climate risk management at the Ministry of the Environment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/living-watersheds\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Living Basins<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is implemented by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Profonanpe<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with funding from the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adaptation-fund.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/AFOverview-SPANISH-11.6.2014.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adaptation Fund <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and led by Imar Costa Norte in the Chancay-Lambayeque watershed.
