{"id":52045,"date":"2026-03-26T15:17:44","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T20:17:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=52045"},"modified":"2026-04-01T09:43:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T14:43:17","slug":"fotovoz-promueve-la-participacion-de-mujeres-para-identificar-barreras-a-la-conservacion-en-junin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/fotovoz-promueve-la-participacion-de-mujeres-para-identificar-barreras-a-la-conservacion-en-junin\/","title":{"rendered":"Fotovoz promotes the participation of women to identify barriers to conservation in Jun\u00edn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Between February and the first days of March, the participatory action research methodology Fotovoz was implemented with the community of Suitucancha (Yauli province, Jun\u00edn), together with<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> representatives of Conservation and Environmental Research (CIAM), <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Profonanpe<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ecoanperu.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ECOAN<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the regional team of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/conserva-aves.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preserves Birds<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Over three sessions, the participants used photography and collective dialogue to record their relationship with nature and, based on these images, analyze the opportunities and barriers to getting involved in conservation actions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first session focused on presenting the methodology and its tools. Participants received cameras, training on their use, and were asked a guiding question: What is my relationship with nature? Over the next five days, they took photographs that reflected their connection to the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the following session, the photographs revealed a strong connection between the community and water, as well as the use of medicinal plants, which are central to their daily lives. The community of Suitucancha has been working to have part of its communal territory recognized as the Nevado de Tunsho Private Conservation Area (PCA), in order to protect more than <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3,934 hectares<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the high Andean zone, located in the Central Cordillera, in an area near the Nor Yauyos Cochas Landscape Reserve and which will protect emblematic species such as the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cinclodes palliatus<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, promoting a biocultural conservation model.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conserva Aves is an alliance between <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/abcbirds.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Bird Conservancy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ABC), <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/es\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Audubon Society<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdlife.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BirdLife International,<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdscanada.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birds Canada<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/redlac.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Latin American and Caribbean Environmental Funds Network <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(RedLAC).
