{"id":49801,"date":"2026-01-14T23:40:22","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T04:40:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=49801"},"modified":"2026-02-26T00:18:38","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T05:18:38","slug":"diez-iniciativas-comunitarias-fortalecen-la-adaptacion-climatica-en-la-cuenca-chancay-lambayeque","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/diez-iniciativas-comunitarias-fortalecen-la-adaptacion-climatica-en-la-cuenca-chancay-lambayeque\/","title":{"rendered":"Ten community initiatives strengthen climate adaptation in the Chancay-Lambayeque basin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The winning organizations will develop initiatives aimed at strengthening food security, livelihood diversification and sustainable ecosystem management in a territory highly vulnerable to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The financing will enable the implementation of measures such as the protection and recovery of water sources, the construction of reservoirs and forest nurseries, reforestation with Tara seedlings, the improvement of pastures and soils, as well as the strengthening of sustainable production chains such as improved guinea pig breeding and the development of handicrafts with a circular approach.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Among the winning organizations is the Asociaci\u00f3n de Productoras La Flor de Tucman, led by Gianinna Gil, which promotes a sustainable handicrafts proposal based on the reuse of disused materials.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u201cWe are thirteen families in the association. We want to innovate by reusing products that are usually discarded and transform them into handicrafts. In addition, the selected initiatives strengthen climate resilience through agriculture, livestock and handicrafts, integrating ancestral knowledge to address climate risks and protect livelihoods:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Tara Reforestation and Sustainable Management of the Mayobamba Ecosystem for Climate Change Adaptation.<br \/>\n<strong>Organization<\/strong>: Peasant Community of Moyobamba.<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable pasture and soil management in natural grasslands to ensure cattle feed and reduce vulnerability to climate change.<br \/>\n<strong>Organization<\/strong>: Asociaci\u00f3n Agroindustrial Q'fresco el progreso.<\/li>\n<li>Recovery of Native Forest Species through Plantations and Silvicultural Systems with Caesalpinia spinosa, Alnus acuminata and Acacia macracantha for the Improvement of Ecosystem Services (Carbon Sequestration and Water Infiltration) in the District of La Esperanza, Santa Cruz, Cajamarca.<br \/>\n<strong>Organization<\/strong>: Pecuagro Producers Association.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening Climate Resilience and Sustainable Pasture and Soil Management in Livestock Systems in the Quilcate CP.<br \/>\n<strong>Organization<\/strong>Nuevo Porvenir - Quilcate Agricultural Producers Association.<\/li>\n<li>Ecological and sustainable improvement of the guinea pig production chain in the district of Chugur, department of Cajamarca, of the Tres Lagunas Chungur Association.<br \/>\n<strong>Organization:<\/strong>\u00a0 Tres Lagunas Chungur Association.<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of the El Milagro sustainable guinea pig barn.<br \/>\n<strong>Organization<\/strong>: Asociaci\u00f3n de Productores Agropecuarios Manos en Acci\u00f3n el Milagro.<\/li>\n<li>Virgen del Perpetuo Socorro Agricultural Producers and Artisan Association of the Cushic hamlet.<br \/>\n<strong>Organization<\/strong>Agricultural Producers Association Manos en Acci\u00f3n el Milagro, Asociaci\u00f3n de Productores Agropecuarios y Artesanal Virgen del Perpetuo Socorro.<\/li>\n<li>Ecological breeding of guinea pigs for sustainable development of the Asociaci\u00f3n Agraria Estrella Tongodina.<br \/>\n<strong>Organization:<\/strong> Estrella Tongodina Agricultural Association.<\/li>\n<li>Improving the economic resilience of the artisans of the La Flor de Tucm\u00e1n Association through the production and marketing of textiles adapted to the impacts of climate change.<br \/>\n<strong>Organization:<\/strong> La Flor de Tucman Producers Association.<\/li>\n<li>Productive and commercial strengthening of the Asociaci\u00f3n de Promotores Chancayanos through innovation in healthy bakery and sustainable use of local inputs in the district of Chancay Ba\u00f1os, province of Santa Cruz, Cajamarca region.<br \/>\n<strong>Organization:<\/strong> Chacayano Promoters Association.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The recognition ceremony was attended by representatives of MINAM, Imar Costa Norte, Profonanpe and the basin's Water Resources Council, as well as local authorities and community organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Cuencas Vivas is implemented by Profonanpe, funded by the Adaptation Fund and led by Imar Costa Norte in the Chancay-Lambayeque watershed.
