<\/p>\nThe native communities of Santa Rosa de Cauchillo, Huapapa and Primavera - members of the Organization of Indigenous Communities of the Lower Putumayo and Yaguas River (OCIBPRY) - have been promoting joint actions to strengthen the management of the RCBPY, in coordination with SERNANP and with the technical support of the National Association of Executors of Contracts for the Administration of Communal Reserves of Peru (ANECAP).<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In this process, the Conserve Birds Initiative, through its lead partners Profonanpe and ECOAN, has contributed to generating spaces for articulation in the territory, aimed at strengthening community governance, biodiversity conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources.<\/p>\n

Participation of the president of OCIBPRY, Edwin V\u00e1squez in the native community Primavera<\/span> @ANECAP<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Indigenous women at the center of conservation and local economy<\/strong><\/p>\n Three communities were visited to present the progress of this reserve and to gather input from caciques and women leaders about their experience in the prior consultation process.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the visits, participatory appraisals were carried out to identify productive activities with great potential, such as chambira handicrafts, the use of natural dyes and the preservation of traditional iconography. Particularly noteworthy was the active participation of women from the Bora, Kichwa, Tikuna and Yagua peoples, who expressed their interest in strengthening their enterprises -particularly the production of chambira baskets and fans-, improving production in their family farms and accessing more training opportunities on the role of women in economic activities.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Workshop in the native community of Huapapa <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>@ANECAP<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Organization of Indigenous Communities of the Lower Putumayo and Yaguas River (OCIBPRY), with technical support from ANECAP, participated in two key milestones: the inauguration of the Maloka together with Putumayo's indigenous organizations and environmental authorities, and the installation of the Multisectoral Commission for the Pacification and Integral Development of Putumayo, where the Supreme Decree establishing the Lower Putumayo Yaguas Communal Reserve (RCBPY) was presented.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Conserva Aves is an initiative led by the American Bird Conservancy (ABC), the National Audubon Society (Audubon), BirdLife International, Birds Canada, and the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Environmental Funds (RedLAC).
