{"id":44359,"date":"2025-05-20T17:44:53","date_gmt":"2025-05-20T22:44:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=44359"},"modified":"2025-07-02T11:31:03","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T16:31:03","slug":"comunidades-de-apurimac-reciben-mas-de-300-equipos-para-luchar-contra-incendios-forestales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/comunidades-de-apurimac-reciben-mas-de-300-equipos-para-luchar-contra-incendios-forestales\/","title":{"rendered":"Communities of Apurimac receive more than 300 pieces of equipment to fight forest fires"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Community representatives being trained in the use of fire prevention materials<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a9 IDMA<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In March, six communities of the Mari\u00f1o River micro-basin (Apur\u00edmac) <\/span><b><i>received specialized equipment for forest fire response, <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the framework of the proposed creation of the Rontoccocha Regional Conservation Area (RCA).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b><i> specialized clothing and tools <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">included items such as boots, firefighter's suits, protective eyewear, helmets, fire batts, forest shovels, Pulaski axes, rakes and gloves, which are of <\/span><b><i>great help to mitigate forest fires, should they occur again.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This delivery is part of a joint effort being made since 2024 by the Institute for Development and Environment (IDMA) - Apurimac program, with the support of PROFONANPE and the participation of the Regional Government of Apurimac for <\/span><b><i>strengthen forest fire prevention and response.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Formal delivery of firefighting equipment<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the event, the director of IDMA Apur\u00edmac, Yerssey Caballero Palomino, highlighted the <\/span><b><i>importance of providing communities with adequate tools for fire prevention and response.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xiomara Iruri Robles, ACR specialist representing the Regional Management of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (GRRNGMA), <\/span><b><i>reaffirmed the Regional Government's commitment to biodiversity conservation and environmental safety.<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For his part, Jaime Valenzuela Trujillo, representative of the National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (SERNANP - SN Ampay), offered <\/span><b><i>recommendations on the correct use and maintenance of the equipment delivered.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After his words, the equipment was verified and formally handed over, and the signing of the Act of Reception was carried out, which guarantees the <\/span><b><i>commitment to the proper use and management of the material received.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event took place at the IDMA Apurimac office, and was attended by representatives of SERNANP - SN Ampay, GRRNGMA, Empresa Prestadora de Servicios EMUSAP Abancay - MERESE and community leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Urgent action to address the problem<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The increase of forest fires in Apurimac, recorded between 2018 and 2020 (SERFOR, INDECI, MINAM).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, evidence of the <\/span><b><i>urgent need to strengthen local capacity to address the problem.<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to CENEPRED data (2022)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Abancay and Andahuaylas are the provinces with the highest recurrence of fires in the last 20 years. Micaela Bastidas, Atumpata, Puruchacca, Santa Isabel de Caype, Cruzpata and Chua are some of the most affected communities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This initiative is a<\/span><b><i> strategic step in the consolidation of the Rontoccocha RCA, <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which seeks to protect more than 42 thousand hectares of ecosystems that are vital for biodiversity and water regulation in the region.
