{"id":43474,"date":"2025-04-09T14:53:40","date_gmt":"2025-04-09T19:53:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=43474"},"modified":"2025-05-02T16:07:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T21:07:59","slug":"junin-communities-participate-in-the-process-of-establishing-the-proposed-acr-san-cristobal-de-pucuta-menkori-acr-proposal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/junin-comunidades-participan-del-proceso-de-establecimiento-de-la-propuesta-de-acr-san-cristobal-de-pucuta-menkori\/","title":{"rendered":"Jun\u00edn: communities participate in the process of establishing the RCA Proposal San Crist\u00f3bal de Pucut\u00e1 - Menkori"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Landscape of cloud forests in the ACR San Crist\u00f3bal de Pucut\u00e1 - Menkori proposal<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a9 Gerson Ferrer : Yunkawas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">i<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rural and native communities in the area covered by the proposed <\/span><b><i>San Crist\u00f3bal de Pucut\u00e1 - Menkori Regional Conservation Area (RCA)<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> strengthen their capacities for the conservation of their natural resources and the development of sustainable economic activities, through informative workshops conducted by the Regional Government of Jun\u00edn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Throughout 2024, through its Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management, with the support of the Yunkawasi Civil Association, the Regional Government of Jun\u00edn has established <\/span><b><i>spaces for dialogue and exchange with community boards of directors and assemblies<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in order to<\/span> <b><i>share the importance of this RCA proposal, exchange perceptions and involve local stakeholders in this process.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through participatory spaces and on a regular basis, the communities reflected on the sustainable use of their natural resources and recognized the benefits they provide to their populations. In addition, they expressed their interest in continuing with the<\/span> <b><i>reporting process <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the ACR San Crist\u00f3bal de Pucut\u00e1 - Menkori proposal, as well as with the <\/span><b><i>social and biological data collection activities in their territories.<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, necessary to continue with the next stages of the establishment of this regional protected area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This initiative proposes to conserve more than 60,000 hectares of mountain ranges ranging from 1,200 to 5,000 meters above sea level, which generate valuable water resources through their lagoons and cloud forests to the Mantaro and Peren\u00e9 river basins. The RCA proposal seeks to ensure the sustainability of the economic activities of local populations, being an effective strategy for <\/span><b><i>safeguarding life territories and thus conserving nature and promoting sustainable, harmonious and responsible livelihoods.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-43477 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/2024_09_11-Junin-ACRPucuta-Taller2CVCHuanuco-\u00a9GersonFerrer-Yunkawasi-26-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/2024_09_11-Junin-ACRPucuta-Taller2CVCHuanuco-\u00a9GersonFerrer-Yunkawasi-26-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/2024_09_11-Junin-ACRPucuta-Taller2CVCHuanuco-\u00a9GersonFerrer-Yunkawasi-26-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/2024_09_11-Junin-ACRPucuta-Taller2CVCHuanuco-\u00a9GersonFerrer-Yunkawasi-26-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/2024_09_11-Junin-ACRPucuta-Taller2CVCHuanuco-\u00a9GersonFerrer-Yunkawasi-26-1-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/2024_09_11-Junin-ACRPucuta-Taller2CVCHuanuco-\u00a9GersonFerrer-Yunkawasi-26-1-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/2024_09_11-Junin-ACRPucuta-Taller2CVCHuanuco-\u00a9GersonFerrer-Yunkawasi-26-1-scaled.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Training program for the Community Surveillance Committee of the Hu\u00e1nuco Rural Community, in conjunction with the Pui Pui Protected Forest.<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a9 Gerson Ferrer | Yunkawasi<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scope of this initiative covers the provinces of Concepci\u00f3n and Satipo, involving around 20 localities, including peasant and native communities belonging to the Quechua and Ash\u00e1ninka indigenous peoples.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This landscape is home to a great biodiversity of fauna species, such as the yellow-tailed choro monkey (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lagothrix flavicauda<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and the spectacled bear (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tremarctos ornatus<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), in addition to about 350 species of birds, 22 of which are endemic to Peru. In this group stand out bird species such as the ashy-breasted bullfinch (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anairetes alpinus) <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the creamy-crested pintail (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cranioleuca albicapilla<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Birds are guardians of life.
