As part of the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) Project, led by the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM) and implemented by Profonanpe, verification and monitoring visits were conducted in the regions of Pasco and Hu\u00e1nuco on September 27 and October 1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Agroforestry systems (AFS), which combine tree cultivation with agriculture, are key to promoting sustainable land use and improving community incomes.<\/span> These visits provided an opportunity to see firsthand the progress made in their implementation and to hear from local residents about the benefits the project has brought to their communities.<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On the first day, the project team visited indigenous organizations such as ANECAP and CONAP and their local chapters, as well as communities in the Palcazu district of Oxapampa province, Pasco. There, <\/span>the collaborative work between the residents and the DCI project was verified by listening to their experiences and observing how the SAFs are contributing to the sustainable development of the area.<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

During the second visit, on October 1, the tour included a visit to the Carpish Mountain Forest Regional Conservation Area (ACR) in Hu\u00e1nuco, where progress was observed on initiatives aimed at biodiversity conservation and forest management. These areas are essential for reducing deforestation and mitigating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, a key objective of the DCI project.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cecilia Flores, DCI project manager, commented on the importance of these visits: <\/span>\u201cListening to the communities and seeing firsthand how the project\u2019s actions are being implemented is crucial for adjusting strategies and ensuring that the work we do truly improves the quality of life in these communities. <\/span><\/i>The commitment and participation of local organizations have been key to the progress we have made so far.<\/i><\/b>\u00ab<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Joint Declaration of Intent continues to strengthen its efforts in partnership with <\/span>key stakeholders, ensuring that initiatives such as the SAFs and the management of Regional Conservation Areas (ACRs) remain effective tools for the conservation of the Peruvian Amazon. <\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
