Both meetings were attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM), the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation, the National Forestry and Wildlife Service (SERFOR), indigenous organizations, and members of the Amazon Regional Association (MRA).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n These meetings were essential for strengthening coordination among the sectors involved in Amazon conservation, aligning efforts toward protecting ecosystems and reducing deforestation.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In both sessions, progress made during the first half of 2024 in terms of physical and financial goals was discussed, and certain adjustments to the 2024 Annual Operating Plan (AOP) were approved.<\/b>Strategic actions for the second half of the year were also reviewed and planned. In addition, the semi-annual report was approved, containing proposals aimed at optimizing the project\u2019s progress, which will allow us to continue working more effectively toward achieving the established objectives.<\/span><\/p>\n Foto: MINAM<\/p>\n <\/p>\n At the 2nd Administrative Meeting, Berioska Quispe Estrada, Director of the General Directorate of Climate Change and Desertification at MINAM, highlighted the crucial role of Norway\u2019s support, noting that this assistance strengthens the capacities of various sectors, regional governments, and indigenous organizations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThanks to these joint efforts, we are making progress in reducing GHG emissions through the management of Regional Conservation Areas (ACR), Indigenous Reserves (RI), community-based forest management, and agroforestry systems,\u201d<\/i><\/b>said Berioska.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n For his part, Anton Willems, Executive Director of Profonanpe, emphasized the importance of developing a comprehensive narrative that highlights that <\/span>\u201cwe are not just talking about a project, but about the implementation of the ICD Financial Mechanism Program\u201d<\/i><\/b>.
