The workshop was organized by the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM) in collaboration with the Amazonian Eco and Biobusiness Finance Facility (EBBF Amazon\u00eda) project, Profonanpe, and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD).<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the meeting, participants discussed the importance of safeguards for the implementation of REDD+ and the strengthening of its institutional framework in the country. In addition, the capacities of PPICC leaders were strengthened regarding the proposed guidelines for the management and provision of periodic information on REDD+ safeguards. Profonanpe\u2019s Research and Development Office and Indigenous Peoples Office also participated in the workshop.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Photo: Ministry of Environment.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Commitment to Sustainability<\/b><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The workshop was attended by more than a hundred representatives from indigenous organizations, who were divided into working groups by organization. <\/span> T<\/span>he participating organizations were AIDESEP, CCP, CNA, CONAP, FENMUCARINAP, ONAMIAP, and UNCA. The importance of integrating ancestral knowledge into national policies and programs was emphasized. Likewise, the workshop provided an additional space for interaction among the leaders of the organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n These types of activities are essential for strengthening environmental governance and ensuring that the voices of indigenous peoples are heard and taken into account in decision-making. The collaboration between MINAM, civil society organizations, and the EBBF makes it possible to channel efforts toward achieving balanced development that respects the environment and local communities.<\/span> <\/p>\n About the EBBF Amazon Project<\/b><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Amazonian Eco and Biobusiness Finance Facility (EBBF Amazonia) is a Profonanpe project, funded by the Green Climate Fund, that provides technical assistance and partially repayable grants to Amazonian eco and biobusinesses to promote the sustainable management of Amazonian forests and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. <\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Foto: Ministerio del Ambiente.
