{"id":36327,"date":"2024-07-27T12:12:21","date_gmt":"2024-07-27T17:12:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=36327"},"modified":"2025-01-07T12:55:08","modified_gmt":"2025-01-07T17:55:08","slug":"officials-from-the-regional-governments-of-amazonas-loreto-and-ucayali-strengthen-technical-capacities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/funcionarios-de-gobiernos-regionales-de-amazonas-loreto-y-ucayali-fortalecen-capacidades-tecnicas\/","title":{"rendered":"Officials from the Regional Governments of Amazonas, Loreto and Ucayali strengthen technical capacities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foto: Gobierno Regional de Amazonas<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With the aim of<\/span><b> promoting sustainable management of natural resources and strengthening conservation in the Peruvian Amazon<\/b><span>, the project \u201cContribution to the Updated DCI Implementation Plan 2021-2025\u201d (DCI Project), led by MINAM and implemented by Profonanpe, organized a series of training workshops in the <\/span><b>regions of Amazonas, Loreto, and Ucayali. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These events featured the <\/span><b>participation of officials and technical teams from the regional governments of Ucayali, Amazonas, and Loreto as implementing partners<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and brought together regional authorities and specialists to address gaps in the management and reporting of results, thereby strengthening conservation and sustainable management efforts in the Peruvian Amazon. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><b>Commitment to Conservation and Forest Management<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workshops were aimed at <\/span><b>uniformizar estrategias y metodolog\u00edas para abordar brechas identificadas en la gesti\u00f3n de \u00c1reas de Conservaci\u00f3n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, centr\u00e1ndose en la reportabilidad de resultados y compromisos asumidos.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In addition, participants discussed and validated essential tools such as stakeholder mapping and the complaints and grievances mechanism. These workshops represent a significant effort toward achieving conservation and environmental sustainability goals in the Peruvian Amazon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">In addition, this series of workshops marks the first phase of a comprehensive training initiative, which will continue in August in the regions of Hu\u00e1nuco, San Mart\u00edn, and Madre de Dios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><b>Regarding the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) \u2013 Phase 2:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Joint Declaration of Intent is a voluntary cooperation agreement signed by the governments of Peru, Norway, and Germany in 2014 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. With the signing of this addendum, the United Kingdom joins the commitment by 2025, and USAID participates as an observer.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The DCI is led by the Ministry of the Environment and implemented by Profonanpe, with the participation of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, through SERFOR; the Ministry of Economy and Finance; the Ministry of Culture; the regional governments of San Mart\u00edn, Hu\u00e1nuco, Ucayali, Loreto, Amazonas, and Madre de Dios; and the indigenous organizations AIDESEP, CONAP, and ANECAP.
